I pay plenty of school taxes etc. But I do not like being taxed by a library.

i sure as hell rather help pay for a library than a welfare cell phone ...

To all you people who think you shouldn't pay for the library if you don't use it; it's well worth the small amount you pay. Many people who use the library are poor and can't afford a computer. Kids in school use it to do reports. If these people didn't have access to the library then they couldn't do their reports. They couldn't get better grades so they can go to college. Go ahead and close the library and see how that affects people. Kids dropping out of school, more people on public assistance because they don't have access to information to get educated. Once you graduate high school I guess you shouldn't pay school taxes then. You aren't using it, right? If you never need the police then you shouldn't have to pay taxes for them, right? Same goes for the fire department. I'd bet that 50% of their books can't be found on the Internet. Maybe if you read more you wouldn't be so negative.

You got to be as dumb as a rock. Just because you can't understand the library provides a valuable service to the community. After school programs for kids, and the elderly. There are quite a few people that don't use or understand technology. What you want to cut their enjoyment because you are narrow minded. The last thing we need is another empty building. We can't sell the ones we already have, and you think someone is going to buy it? Use your head. You want to save money then have Fusco fire all the dead beats he put on. You do that there would not be a budget problem. Cut out all the overtime for department heads, get rid of the confidential suck holes, and phone operators, and four secetaries for a two person office.

So what you are saying is if we pay for the library it will stop us from paying for free phones? Well hate to say it but that's not working. We pay for both. Time to stop paying for both.

Let the Library be l,e any other entertainment service. If you want to use it, YOU pay, not me.

Untrue. I don't have a cell phone and my assistance only pays a portion of my landline bill. I am left to pay the rest with my paycheck from my work. I also do not have internet at home because I can not afford the prices they charge.

Why don't you take that misplaced anger right where it belongs instead of point your finger at the library. Put right on the head of the idiot mayor. If he had not put on all his buddies in jobs that should have been eliminated when they were vacated, then there would not be an issue with the budget. Or the Fuckonut trying to use grant money to by his friends houses as political payback because they are slumlords like him who don't want to spend their money to keep them in repair. Get a life the library is a asset not a liability. So put you anger as I said on the head idiot in charge.

The Mid York Library is a non-profit business that is funded through the State University of New York system, through private contributions, and fund raising activities. It is not locally funded by taxes but is funded partially by grants to SUNY.

actually I have read hundreds of books that I have paid for. Why should home owners have to pay for a entertainment service that they do not use?
