I am looking for information. A 14 year old was attacked last night. There were two teens. My guess would be between 17 and 19 years of age. The one who did the talking and punching was a black male. His bottom jaw stuck way out, like Bubba from "Forest Gump". I did not see the front of the second male. I do not know his race. They were both slender build. They tried to steal his bike but they were unsuccessful. When they saw me running over they ran off. The one black male punched the kid in the face several times. I am sure that if you know this fcker you will know that he is the one I am asking about due to his under bite. Please help. Our children are not safe in this city any longer. This happened on N. James st between Linden and Locust on Wednesday night 6/12/13. Lets get this violent punk off the streets. If we adults all work together we can make this a better place for the sake of our children.

Please,if anyone has any information please help. I have not slept in two nights thinking about the 'what ifs'. What if I worked late that night? What if they stopped him a block earlier? What if his friend hadn't run in to tell me? What if they had weapons? What if they stopped them a block earlier? WHAT IF I LOST MY CHILD?

Time for neighborhood watch programs all thru the city. Maybe if some of these punks start to get roughed up, this crap stops. They need to be treated like the animals that they are. Arresting them only puts them back on the streets. There's a lot more of us than them. The City needs to call a MTG for anyone that wants to get involved. A watch in one neighborhood only drives them to another but a city wide watch gets them out of here. Start by calling your alderman/woman. How much farther out of control do we let this get?

I found out that night that our neighborhood had a meeting about a week ago. The Mayor, the PSC,codes and some of the area residents were there. I was not informed of the meeting until after this happened. I have a really good neighbor who walks the area every night. It happened right in front of his house and my son said he kept looking over hoping he would come out. Unfortunately he came home after the police arrived.

Check Franklyn field at dusk, lots of teens go there to hang out probably where they were coming from when they attacked your son.

Have you called the police? The may know the kid your talking about, from prior problems. I'm sure you want revenge but Its not worth the trouble you'll be in if your caught.

The police checked over there. They came from the other direction though. My son and his friend were escorting another boy home. He lives near Byrne Dairy and they all went together then they were on there way back. Around Garden st these older teens started harassing them from a car. They started riding faster. Then the car turned onto Linden and stopped and two jumped out. The one boy mad it to the house but they hit my son from behind and then grabbed hold of the bike.

Oh,I called them as it was happening. They had just run off. I yelled at the 911 operator because he kept asking questions. I was like "I dont know just send the cops!" "I need to help my son!" I was very stressed and couldn't think and he was crying and I just wanted to hold him. The cops swarmed the whole area. They were very good. They were arriving from all directions and some on foot. They took the bike for finger printing and canvased the neighborhood. By then it was very late so I don't know how many answered their doors. With all the depositions from my son,his friend,a neighbor who saw and came out,and myself it took hours.

What ever happened to the new super unit from the Police Department ? They were touted as being the next best thing since sliced bread! Now we have two unsolved murders, unsolved robberies, and attempted robberies . Did you ever think there is a need of a change of leadership at RPD before we have more and more unsolved crime and dead people !

I am not angry with the police they can not be everywhere at once but I am angry about how it was listed in the paper. I do believe that this was assault. The police log listed it as larceny. Are they trying to keep the public unaware of how bad things have gotten? When I got home from work I made them escort this other kid home because it was too late for him to go alone. The other one was sleeping over. I figured one kid alone is not safe but together they are okay. Had I known how bad things around here have gotten I would not have sent them out at 10:30. I don't normally let my kid out that late. This other kid should already have been home long before that.
