isn't this another one of those glorified fast food joints where they yell at you as you walk in and play loud music??

why can't we get a nice sit-down mexican restaurant with good food and margheritas instead of fast-mex?????

I've eaten at one in Tampa Bay, Florida. I didn't care for it. It's not high quality Mexican food. It's like Mexican fast food. To me, Taco Bell is even better.

I also don't care for that Tex Mex Grill in Little Italy. That concept of ordering a burrito assemblymen style is unattractive to businesses. Most Romans have been to the South or Southwest at least once in their lives and know good Mexican food.

What we need is a nice sit down Mexican restaurant similar to Chevy's in the Tri-State area. Just maybe on a smaller scale.

I know but it wasn't the prices or location it was the food. True Romans know a good burger and 5 Guys was lackluster.

Dematteo's burgers are some of the best in the area. People from outside of Rome go there for a hamburger. The only reason McDonalds is always busy is cause it's fast n cheap. 5 guys isn't. Every McDonald's in every city is busy so you need to get out of Rome for once in your life.
you are correct

Really ! Do you have a clue how much money it would cost to BUILD a " nice " sit down restaurant? It's in the millions to build anywhere IN THE USA!! Just to meet the codes regulations, fire, etc. this city couldn't put enough people thru the doors to support that kind of investment!! That is why you DO NOT SEE CHAIN RESTAURANTS building in ROME!! That's why 5 GUYS CLOSED, FRIENDLY'S CLOSED, DAIRY QUEEN CLOSED, When and if MOE'S comes to town they will follow 5 guy's out in the same time frame!! Not a large enough pool of consumers, especially in this CHEAP town!!

5 guys COULD have made it if they didn't charge 10 per hamberger!!!!there prices were way TOOOOO HIGH! End of story!LaRoma is a great place...Prices are NOT TOO HIGH!

The reason the prices are so high is the investors desire to get a returm on their investments, it's basic economics. That is why the chains are building on Commercial Dr. in New Hartford, because it's where the money is ??? Rome's per capita income is too low to allow significant investment to gain a monetary return, end of story!! You must be related to Russ, their prices are the highest in the city for Pizza and Wings bar none. Moe's will not last 2 years in this shot and beer city?

Two things control food cost, the wholesale price the business pays for their food and the volume it sales. Five Guys, like almost all chains, require the food be purchased from approved vendors. Price of a box of meat and a bag of studs is set by Five Guys and owners cannot shop around. Therefor, you HAVE TO change XX for a burger to keep food costs under 34%. If you are over 34% you will fail unless you have great volume. If you are at 34% but have shitty sales like Rome FG did, you will also fail. Bottom line is Romans will not pay for quality, End of Story.
