ROME, Feb. 9, 2011 -- According to Rome Police Investigator Jason Worth, who is assigned to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Rome man was arrested on February 3, for engaging in sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17.

Brian D. Wright, 28, of N. Washington Street in Rome, was arrested after an investigation by the Child Advocacy Center revealed that he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old female child in Rome, NY. Wright was charged with one count of Rape in the Third Degree, a Class E Felony. He was arraigned in Rome City Court and bail was set at $7,500.

The Oneida County Child Advocacy Center was assisted in the investigation by the Rome Police Department.

funny thing is i was there at the party. chick lied to everyone about her age. i know Brian very well and had he known that she was younger than what she claimed to be he would have never looked at her. Skanks nowadays. This chick should get in some type of trouble for lying about it and getting a good guy arrested.girls need to realize that when they lie about their age it can cause serious problem for those that dont deserve it. its unfortunate that it had to happen to Brian. every person at that party believed her about her age. it could have happened to any of us there at the party. so dont go around poppin off at the mouth about Brian. its not like he is the first person to belive a person about their age then get in trouble for it.. the messed up part is that this girls dad was there and let it happen. he should be just as accountable for not saying anything about it

if all that is true its efn sad. i totally agree that the chick should be in some kind of trouble. everyone should petition for some kind of law or whatever, you know? to get the girls in troulbe for lying. what a little skank!so because of her nastieness, brian is being persicuted for being a perve. her parents shouldve taught her better.

Same situation happened to my cousin down in Texas. He was 27 and she was 14. The girl took her older sisters ID that said she was 23 and got into a club and was stamped on the hand old enough to drink. He ended up hooking up with her and taking her home. The next morning her father called her cell phone and she told him where she was and he showed up with the cops. Now that is bullshit! The judge ended up throwing out the case, but he still has to live with the label placed on him by some.

Keep making excuses for these scumbags. Whether or not the girl lied he had sex with a CHILD. Stop being such dickbag apologists for child rapists.

So even if the girl lied about being of age and looked it as well, he's a rapist?!!! No one is making excuses for Brian they're just telling the truth that he's innocent! You're the scum just like that little lying immature wh*re going out of her way to get him in serious trouble!!! F*ck you!

So no one here lied to buy alcohol or cigarette or even to look, "cool".

The consent law is in place to protect children, but there certainly needs to be some consideration for young adults. I am not sure why the courts see this as very black & white. It isn't as if he was in a position of authority like a teacher or counselor, because then he would have known her true age.

In the mean time stop blaming a kid who wants to be an adult. She did not press charges, some adult did.

Yes! A 28 year old man should not meet a young girl at a party and have sex with her - he sounds like a real good guy - Not! He's 28 and he can't tell of someone is close to his own age? Give me a break!

Well, the guy being 28 should not be hooking up with someone that young. Just because they say they are 18, doesn't make it fair game to 'tap that'. Where are your morals? I mean she couldnt of looked over 18.
However, I agree that the girls need to be just as responsible. I dont know either people in this case but when you have a young girl out at parties, trying to hook up with older men, it should never be considered Rape. If anything SHE forced herself onto these men by LYING about her age. They need to get laws in place for situations like this. The parents should keep their young teens home if they don't want this happening, or if they know their daughter is promiscuous. If your child became among the missing, they would be pleading for her safe return, no questions asked.

I Know someone who allowed their daughter who was 16 going on 17 date the bus monitor who was over 30. They felt since she would be of age 17 in a few months that it was OK. NO WAY in HELL would I allow my 17 or even 18 yr old daughter date someone that is that old! The mom and dad have 10-15yrs apart and see no problem with letting their daughter do the same. It's Disgusting and every time I see him, I cant help but blurt out child molester. What in the world does a 30+yr old guy see in a 16/17yr old girl on a relationship level. NOTHING! HEs a PERVERT!!

Okay, mom of teen, I agree with you in a general way. When I was 17 I was very mature, working and going to school. Saying you wouldn't "allow" your daughter to date someone is unrealistic. I was sneaky and did date my 26 year old boyfriend for several weeks before my 18th birthday...sh!t happens. Luckily I had the foundation of responsibility as far as disease prevention and contraception. As a parent THAT is what you need to do, NOT say you would not allow it.

even if the girl didn't look a day past 18 she said she was 18. The legal age in ny state is 17. If he's at fault for anything it's drinking with a minor. Besides no one cares about your opinion! If a guy wants to sleep with a girl 10 years younger than him there's nothing wrong with it as long as she's of age. He thought she was of age. The problem here isn't him being guilty of statutory rape which whether he knew it he is, it's a vindictive, lying, b#tch accusing him of rape. It's not right.

Marvin, he was a friend of mine
And he could sing a song
His heart in every line
Marvin sang of the joy and pain
He opened up our minds
And I still can hear him say
Aw talk to me so you can see
What's going on
Say you will sing your songs
Forevermore (evermore)

Gonna be some sweet sounds
Coming down on the nightshift
I bet you're singing proud
Oh I bet you'll pull a crowd
Gonna be a long night
It's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
Oh you found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift

Jackie (Jackie), hey what'you doing now
It seems like yesterday
When we were working out
Jackie (Jackie, oh) you set
The world on fire
You came and gifted us
Your love it lifted us
Higher and higher
Keep it up and
We'll be there
At your side
Oh say you will sing
Your songs forevermore (evermore)

Gonna be some sweet sounds
Coming down on the nightshift
I bet you're singing proud
Oh I bet you'll pull a crowd
Gonna be a long night
It's gonna be all right
On the nightshift
Oh you found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift

Gonna miss your sweet voice
That soulful voice
On the nightshift
We all remember you
Ooh the songs are coming through
At the end of a long day
It's gonna be okay
On the nightshift
You found another home
I know you're not alone
On the nightshift

I was a teen once, but it was hard for me to sneak around. I grew up in a small town and there really was no where to go but home. lol I wasnt even allowed to attend school functions! BUT anyway, i was referring to how this family is ALLOWING her daughter who was 16 at the time, date someone that was 31. That is disgusting from the guys view. The teen girl is thinking she got a good deal, with an older man that will spoil her cause shes so young and neive.

Guess what dip sh*t?!! You obviously didn't read what I wrote! Yeah the girl is 15 but she lied to him and everyone else at the party that she was 18! So if she said that and he didn't know she was under age, that means he thought he was f*cking an 18 year old! That's not illegal in ny state! RETARD!

Oh no, I got it perfectly the first time. After reading it again, I stand firm that you are a total fool. He's 28 and should know better, whether she lied or not. I'm sure after a half a sentence it became real obvious how old she was but he just wanted to get laid! It's disgusting and wrong!

lmao...i thought the same exact thing.i'm sure it was obvious that she wasn't old enough just by the way she talked and acted.if he wasn't thinking of getting his noodle wet,he wouldn't be in the pickle he has himself in now.

That's actually pretty clever at the end lol...Seriously though he is in a pickle but regardless of your opinions 17 and over is legal in NY state. My father was older than my mother, he met her when she was 22, but still he was older. No one said anything about it, at least not to their faces. Alot of men like young ass women because they tend to not have children and aren't used and abused. I know that sounds bad but they look at them like fresh meat. She lied and if she really was of age Brian wouldn't be on Topix being called a rapist. He made a mistake but not intentionally. Put yourself in his shoes and you would feel how he does now. Falsely accused of RAPE! Not statutory rape, but flat out RAPE.
