Because the father retired and his son took over the Dairy Queen and ruined it. Same son that runs Poppa Rick's Snack Shack on upper Madison St. Believe me.. I know this guy and he sucks. Prices are way high also. The father ran a great business, but the son is nothing like him.

LaRoma's is definitely good.

When the Garage first opened, they were the shiz. The style is the same, but the sauce is way different. If they wen't back to making their own marinara sauce, they will once again rule the world.

And there's a cutey behind the counter.

I meant cutie. I don't want to be verbally drawn and quartered for a typo in this forum.

It's okay BB, spelling errors occur when faces are stolen and shows are missed. Or perhaps the goal of the fiendish Fu Man Chu's mac virus is to remove your spell check. Either way, nice name

The problem with every Pizza shop is the inconsistency of the product. The Garage,Tony's, and even the Plaza have turned out terrible pizzas as well as great ones. It all depends on who makes it and how busy they are. I would avoid buying on a Friday night at Tony's on Jay because they are swamped with business and from experience, I have gotten the worst pizza when they are busy. Very little toppings or cheese, and many times burnt. As far as the Plaza goes.. I've had the best pizza ever one time, and the next time it was like a slab of dough with a bit of sauce on it and very little toppings even though I ordered and payed for extra cheese, hot peppers, mushrooms, and extra sausage. Costed $18.00 also. That was the last one I ever got from the Plaza.

For the record, Losurdo's Pizza Villa, on the corner of Erie Blvd. and Gifford was the best pizza Romans ever saw and nobody will ever come close. Too bad their long gone.

I always liked Losurdo's pizza. It was almost as cheesy as their interior decorating.

The best pizza in rome was made by Josephine Grago. She is an old italian woman from Italy. Of course (old man) Frank Mallace's wife makes excellent pizza too. I miss the old day's when you didn't buy pizza out. You made your own pizza at home

We made pizza on the grill (that's right, the grill) a few times this summer with no sauce - just fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, olive oil, and that nice fresh mozz. Magnifique!

In the words of Ferris Bueller: "If you have the means, I highly recommend it. It is so choice."

That's just sooo wrong on so many levels! Marina's was far from even being in the top 5.

Yankee I think you should move out of Rome and into a cave because your a cynical prick. Comments like the rudeness of the locals, LOL, did someone put a gun to your head and force you to move to Rome? Its a free country. I think we lost both Dairy Queens because you saw the same guy sneeze in both places and decided that you could go home and make your own Ice Cream.

O'Scugnizzo !
For years I thought O'Scugnizzo's in Utica was absolutely the best ( believe me, it was ), and we bought a pizza in Rome right after they opened.... it wasn't the same, not even close.

My vote would be with "The Garage", although I like LaRoma's as well.
