"This is good news because a new report suggests that the agency seemingly has no idea how many guns it has, or where those guns are, or what happened to the guns it doesn't know it's missing."

It sounds like they need a little visit from the ATF? Oh, wait - the government does not have to follow the same UNCONSTITUTIONAL laws as we peon citizens do.

Another said:

I think its time to take down government.

Government is the one creating unsafe conditions. Now when one of them guns are found on a citizen the citizen will be doing 3 1/2years mandatory. Should be the government doing the time!

Wonder if the person who said "I think its time to take down the government" is aware that by advocating that without due process might be considered an act of treason? Especially when his remarks are contained in the same post when talking about guns.

and its obvious you do not understand my post. As far as the Constitution goes. Apparently you haven't read it, or have had very little knowledge of it. Seems to me you just want to use it when you Rednecks want to spout some tea bag philosophy over guns. If you did know anything about it, you should at least know it is capitalized.

Quite a nonsensical rant.

nonĚsenĚsiĚcal (n n-s n s -k l). adj. 1. Lacking intelligible meaning: a nonsensical jumble of words. 2. Foolish; absurd: nonsensical ideas.

The 2nd Amendment is about fighting tyranny.

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -Thomas Jefferson

As an attorney for the last 27 years, I have studied the Constitution with special attention to the Bill of Rights, so I believe my opinions have some credibility.

The Second Amendment was not intended to be about weapons for hunting, sport, or even individual self-defense. It was intended to assure the rights of the people as individuals and as a community to "keep," as in to possess, their individual weapons, and, if necessary, to "bear" them, meaning to use those weapons against a tyrannical government.

Implicit in the enumeration of these rights is the right to bear and keep weapons comparable to any weapons the tyrannical government might possess, such as "assault rifles." Otherwise, to quote the "Borg," "resistance is futile."

Some will immediately object and say that the framers could never have imagined today's weapons. The framers, however, were educated men of the Enlightenment who knew progress was inevitable.

In fact, it was the advanced technology of the Pennsylvania long rifle with its greater range, accuracy and killing power that helped Colonial forces overcome the Redcoats with their less-effective Brown Bess muskets. In addition, multishot firearms were already in use in 1789.

If the question were put to the framers, I believe they would stand by their words as drafted.

If enough people want to change the Second Amendment, it will need to be repealed or changed. This cannot and must not be done by mere state or federal legislation, and most especially not by the president's pen. To do so could lead to the improper erosion of other critical rights we ought so hard to obtain.

That person didn't even get to the part or even have to explain the part "shall not be infringed" which further backs up, you cant take guns away from people or stop people from having guns. Any restriction of such is Unconstitutional. Yet, the article/thread is about HOW GOVERNMENT as stated above CREATES UNSAFE CONDITITION'S FOR IT'S CITIZENS

When it was written it was meant as a means of defending he country from outsiders such as Britton or another country from coming here and taking. If you remember England was taking the peoples guns to keep them from using them against their troops. I don't believe 2nd Amendment was meant as a means to overthrow the government of the US. I also believe that if those people were alive today and see how big of a screw up has become they would not have written it. Also no one is trying to take away your right to keep and bear arms. All they are asking for it to have a criminal background check. So what is wrong with that? I own guns, and have a carry permit. I did not get all defensive having to go through a background check when I bought my guns. So I am at a loss as to why there is such a big deal being made of it. By the way there is nothing to the thread that they can't account for their guns.
