Wow - so glad to hear positive feedback - I think we should all go and support the "Rink" we all went - we should have a reunion night - lol... ooooo the memories...

Never heard of the place but I am glad that Rome has a place with obviously many fond memories.

Words can't describe my feelings. I am just not sure what to day. It has been so long since I last visited and 30 years later I fined that I can visit again. I just don't know what to say. I am too overwhelmed.

I know Gene would never go for it because that building has probably been paid for years ago but...I think that Home Depot building would make a great improved version of Skate-A-While. If for no other reason than just to have a better location. I think the troublemakers would be less likely to be there. It's too open, they couldn't hide their law-breaking antics. Personally, I'd pay RPD to have an officer on-site during operational hours. After a year or so you wouldn't need them. Cameras are the key. I'd put them everywhere. Anyway, the idea of a reunion of such of everyone who used to frequent the rink back in the early 80's is a great idea. Unfortunately I live a good distance away and it wouldn't be feasible for me. On the other hand, I may be in the area later this year to visit family. I'd love to take my kids there while I'm up. That is, if there aren't any shady people around. If there are, I'm not going. My children's safety comes first and foremost.

no because nobody will drive up there just to skate where it is now is a perfect place for the rink

the man doesn't even live in Rome, as he said.
you just like to "down on rome" and "down on fusco" every chance you get.
you seem like a very unhappy person in general judging from EVERY one of your posts.
maybe you should move to Florida.

Who doesn't live in Rome? I'm not into opening another roller rink but I am entertaining the idea of a drive-in in Blossvale. I just need more info on the property.

I was enjoying the Skate-A-While thread. What happened? To everyone who is as nostalgic as I am, bring back the convo. Just ignore the naysayers.

One of my kids went to a birthday party there in the late 90's. I hadn't been there since about 1980... That was like going into a time machine.

I bet it was. I've heard everything, right down to the pay phone, is still the same. Cable spool benches and everything. I'd like to see that.

It was the same as when I was 14. Except the music.
