I think that the Mayor not showing up at the Pool was very sad and then to make the comment that the time the kids had debated at the pool, they could have been swimming..good educated response. At least he could have spoke to the paper and news but to also listen to what the residents and children have to say about the pool. There was funds for this pool, and it was closed last year for safety reasons that had nothing to do with the pool but to make sure no more deaths came from the construction by the arena....thecity felt like the children could get hurt or die from the whole mess.
I agree.

Council woman,Leona Smith said there was an accident over there involving a pedestrian and a construction vehicle. The pedestrian died. She made the decision to close the pool last year and she caught a lot of flack for it but she felt it was necessary. I agree though that the construction did not come anywhere near the pool until late August. She said she was concerned about the walkers from that side.

Watch his eyes as he says "There wasn't any static last year" about the pool being closed. He looked away for a second. Tell tail sign of a lie.

I was just looking back and came across this. I had to laugh. They were working on this block the other day. It's about time.

Be creative. Don't just depend on a city pool. I hate people who blame. Its suppose to be hot, if you can't afford a pool then look into options.Summer camps for your child, other pools that are open.Be thankful you have air too,a lot don't.Move on with this subject over a pool closing. Oh then help out if your so concerned.Have fundraisers, get involved besides b%tching.
I wouldn't donate money. It would be used for something else. Look at Kennedy Arena. Someone donated money specificly for a senior center area. It has not been done yet. A nice place for the elderly of the area to go have coffee and play cards. This money was given for that purpose. WHERE IS IT? I hear they tried to weasel out of it but were called out about it. They better be working on it. It is obvious Fusco does not care about the kids but what about the elderly?

The only thing Fusco will ever do for one of our elderly citizens is dig the hole they're to be placed in.

Folks its not so much the closing of the pool that is my concern. It is the adminstration I don't believe is being stright forward with what is going on with the people. The idea was at first a safety issue for construction last year. That I can see. This year it was suppose to be cost. That I can see also if it is true. However, it does appear to me that is the actual reason for closing the pool. If it is a cost issue then why are there people being put on the city payroll as new hires. There must be money there someplace, or there would not be people being put on. Does this not raise red flags to anyone else? If there is no money, I don't see how you are saving money by doing this. Sorry but this does not seem right to me. Again I don't believe the mayor is being honest with the people in what he is doing here.

I have a life thank you. No the hire were not to replace people who retired. There was no retirement. The were hired to work in the DPW, and were friends of Joe's. Now argue that. All you have to do is talk to some of the people who works in the DPW. Better yet talk to Frank he had to put them on because he was told to do so. No it not called retirement its call returning the favor for getting Fusco elected.

WELL, I went to the train station meeting tonight. There was, according to the council woman, supposed to be a question answer time. A time to express your concerns in 5 minutes or less. Ya right. When you say thank you for coming at the end you are saying good bye,get out. That is what happened. Then he did his little news thing and the cameras left. THEN he was willing to talk. WHAT A CROCK!

He is supposed to listen to the public concerns. First he had to make sure to get rid of the cameras. That way next year he can say the same thing. "There was no flack last year about closing the pool". What a crock of s---.
