The way these people act is repulsive. How difficult is it to do your job and do it well? All they do is want yet there production is consistently lack luster.

I know PLENTY of excellent teachers in our school system. Like any job if there is a bad apple there are 50 more that are good at what they do. I suggest you take your issues up with them . You know how it goes on here the remarks will begin to some who don't deserve it. Some do but alot don't. By the way if you ever walked in their shoes and did their job for a day you cannot speak or belittle what they do. Just my 2 cents before we all act like animals. Begin with the remarks now, that's fine I won't cry.

They deserve that pay.Did you finish your highschool education? Did you go on to earn your masters, and for most a doctorate degree? Do you teach, parent, support,(the list goes on) a class room full of children everyday? I bet the answer is NO,but you can sit back and complain about a career you know nothing about. Step up and BE a parent to your own children,IT ALL STARTS AT HOME.

well did YOU complete a masters-do YOU teach-maybe YOU alos know nothing! It is MY opinion that they are WAY overpaid for what they do!I really DOUGHT we have many DR's that are teaching in the rcs district! That is the laugh of the day! They also got PAID to go get a masters, they could take basket weaving 101! That is a FACT!

I am a teacher.. and I know NOT ONE of my colleagues making $90,000. Try about half of that. The extra work, classes, professional development, and planning time that goes into GOOD teaching isn't worth mentioning to ignorant people who aren't willing to listen. But it does certainly exist. And Tax Payer, please consult spell check next time you spell 'doubt'.

Teachers get paid no where near that amount in the RCSD. If you ever sat in on any of the classes that your children are in, you would not have the same opinion. These teachers get the worst of the majority of your children, and most of them do it with a great deal a patience and gratitude because they love what they do. Take it up with the individual teachers that you have an issue with not the whole lot.

Teachers aren't your problem...if you want to trim some fat in salaries, administration is where to go. The average salary of teachers according to this site is well below $90,000. I understand your frustration, but ask any teacher to spend a week in their classroom and you will see that what they do goes well beyond just teaching academics.

And,as you can see, that is not even close to the majority. If you kept going, you'd probably see the bulk in the 40-60 range. And the pay is based on taking extra classes and years in the district. Also.. are administrators included in what you researched? Just curious.

well said. People love to pass judgement. Maybe it's your child's fault and NOT the teacher's fault did you ever think of that????

I said people in the Rome School District. That includes everyone.

The top Blowhard made $150,000 last year. I heard he doesn't even live in our District.

He was probably one of your students. I do not know exactly what you make but it is a lot more than $45,000. The main problem is your dismal graduation rates. Always looking for more money for producing an inferior product. If the Rome school district was a private business it would be bankrupt.

Maybe you should be in a different line of work. The problem with over paying teachers is that they are attracted to the job just because of the pay, time off and benefits. A very large number do not even like children or teaching.

Most of the problem with education has nothing to do with the teachers, it has to do with the view of education as a whole. In the past education was a priority at home. Teachers were supported by the parents at home rather than constantly being criticized by people who haven't stepped foot in a classroom since they left one themselves. If you are concerned about the education of the children in rome, start talking at board meetings, let them know things need to change. Vote for new board members. Make your voice heard someplace where you can make a difference. Bashing teachers on topix has been done over and over and it hasn't changed anything. Maybe the teachers aren't really the problem.
