whatever happened to the Y? That place used to be awesome like 8 years ago and then slowly fell apart?

The Y... too much money, and too many kids with too little supervision of gym and workout space. And a haven for bad element as well. One needs to be very careful about sending your kid there today.

What time of the day are you working out? must be after school. I work out in the morning and have no problems with kids. Could it all be that you may have to pay a little more money to get a lot more. Plaint Fit does not have a great sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, pools…. and programs like child watch. If all you do cardio I guess you are in the right place. If you need any kind weight you will need to stay at the Y because Plaint Fit has a limit on there dumbbells and is max out at only 65LBS

Planet Fitness in Rome is awful, the staff is rude and act like they are paying you to come there.. Totally disrespectful! I would drive the extra miles to go to the one in New Hartford.

After reading your submissions on Topix, I think I know why the staff is prolly "rude" to you. You surely don't use "honey" to attract the bees...now do you?

I joined PF when they opened and have been going 4 times a week since. I've never been treated rudely. I had question they couldn't answer on the spot and they told me they'd ge back to me. Handed me a note when I was leaving with the answer to my question. The machines work and there is no waiting when I go--usually either at lunch time or before work. It's $10.00 a month!

Planet fitness is a nice place . I workout everyday for the last 20 years. I belong to both gyms. The YMCA has been the only show in town, they need some competition to make them wake up and clean the place. I think when my Y card runs out I will stay at planet fitness , for 10 bucks you cant go wrong.

You see I am not trying to attract bees.. who wants to get stung? Futhermore why should I hafta kiss one of my servent's as*? I pay for a service and should be treated with respect. Is it not there mission to be a judgement free zone where everyone can feel comfortable? Besides that the people that work in the Rome PF are of the shady type, with criminal records.

Nancy not giving the customer support and comfort is one step closer to failure.10 bucks a month may not hold that customer. May not be a bad idea to pay a little more to get more. After your post I am sure they know who has mistreated you. There are others that may have been mistreated that don’t take the time to write. So thanks to you you may have straightened him or her out. If not they will be short lived.

Your Servant? You think because you pay the measly 10 or 20 bucks a month that you can treat the employees like YOUR servant? You definitely have issues and deserve to be treated as you treat others.

You got it backwards! After reading her posts in this thread and elsewhere, they will know who does the mistreating...and it's not the Planet Fitness personnel.

Any place that has work overtime to convince people of their "Judgement Free Zone" with huge, gaudy letters clearly doesn't have a judgement free zone. The Y may not be the best on earth, but it has loads of facilities a place like PF never will, AND it's not a yellow and purple gulag. I'll gladly spend more to keep my money closer to the community.

Anybody who knows what they're doing and has the space would buy weights and build a gym of their own. My home gym is better than the Y and PF combined

Nancy drew: remember this respect is earned and not bought, now one should be your "servant" unles they are paid very well.

Bolloxinion: If big letters and bright colors scare you, then don't go, there is no need to complain about it.

and..Guspari...not everyone has your cash, and needs facilities like the Y and PF to work out
