I pity those of you who are so weak willed and immoral that you would support anything as heinous as Christianity. The world is a worse place directly because you and others like you allow terrorist organizations like the three Abrahamic religions to thrive. Be glad there's no hell for it would be densely populated by those who propagate its existence.

The Vatican is the head of the Catholic church, and does not represent all who call themselves Christian. Yes people have done terrible things that they shouldn't have. There's no denying that. Please be aware that many Christians do NOT condone or support these things. There are many different groups who call themselves Christian and don't act like it. The donations we make go to many different causes and because many Christians are protestant, none of these donations even go to the Vatican.

Painting everybody with the same brush doesn't work. It may help you understand if you engage in civil conversation with just one of us.

"Religion" can be a bad thing. But it's worth noting that "Religion" and "Spirituality" are two different things. Even Jesus Christ himself didn't like "religion." Many people today are simply uninformed, or even worse misinformed. It is not my intention to convert you, nor judge you, but I seek to understand you, and I also seek to inform you that not everybody or every group is the same. I once thought the same way, and now I know better.
So hard to just walk away isn't it? Not sure why you want to pretend and mislead people. Your statement above clearly states that "you seek to inform me" and "now you know better". That is clearly you judging me on my beliefs and labeling me as wrong. So again. I am ok with saying that I judge you based on your beliefs. Not sure why you can't admit your doing the same. You are not better then the people you look down on and judge. You are an insecure idiot as I stated before who seems to struggle with common sense. I know thinking that there's something more out there makes your insignificant life seem worth living, but rest assured there is no heaven, hell or eternal happiness. Stop playing make believe, you are not a child anymore.

When I say I'm not judging you, I mean I'm not judging you as a person. It's okay to have the opinion that you're mistaken in your worldview that there isn't a God. You certainly have the right to have your opinion that God doesn't exist. Just because two people have different opinions does not mean that either is less of a person. I don't regard you as inferior in any way. You're not inferior at all. Sometimes we allow our beliefs to define who we are, and that can be a negative way of living. While it's true that they do shape our lives, a person can't or at least shouldn't be measured solely by their beliefs. It's okay to debate our differences. In this way, we may come to understand each other, and this is a positive aspect of life. Your personal attacks on me don't answer my earlier question to you.

What I want to know is how or why you came to the conclusion that there is no God. Surely that's not a difficult question to answer, and it's an entirely fair question to ask.

I'm sorry if I was not clear before. I came to this opinion based on the fact that I have nothing in common with you or any other individuals that believe there is some magical make believe spirit in the sky looking over us. This sounds like a fairy tail or just plain insanity in my opinion. I cannot sit in a church and have hypocrites that molest children or protect those people tell me how to live my life when they cannot even control their own demons. Instead of continuing on with what I don't believe in. Lets discuss what I do believe. I believe that the concept of God has caused more harm and pain in this world then any good could ever come of it. I believe that you should be judged by how you treat others and what you are willing to do for less fortunate people that need help. We live in a society where people look down on everyone around them if they do not share the same views or opinions they do. Forgive me if you are not one of those people, but that would be a rarity when dealing with religious people.

I completely understand your views. There is a lot of misconception about Christianity, and much of that misunderstanding has indeed been caused by those who call themselves Christians. If I may, I'd like to shed some light on some basic information so that you may know how some of us think and exactly what some of us believe. Your code of ethics as you stated them is actually closer to what Christian behavior should be.

Christianity in Western civilization is split into two basic groups.

One group is Catholic and the other is Protestant. I won't go into a long winded history, but the Christian movement was split by Martin Luther in the 1500s when he confronted the Catholic church over it's use of money and insistence on holding power among the ruling and wealthy classes. He believed that all people had a right to examine and read the bible, and not just those in power. As a result, he was kicked out of the Catholic church and was declared an outlaw.

The Catholic church is the organization that has recently been exposed for it's long and disgusting history of pedophilia. Now that doesn't mean that Protestants haven't committed their share of wrongdoings, because we surely have. But my belief is that the individuals who do what is wrong should be held accountable, and that the people who behave correctly should not have to suffer for the transgressions of those people. In other words, if you and I are in a club, and I do something wrong, then my guilt should not be placed upon you or anyone else in the club. Right? Yet sadly, that's not the way the world works.

Now getting back to basics, within the Protestant groups are sub-groups or denominations. Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, United Church of Christ, Lutheran, etc.

Some of these groups are very conservative and fundamentalist, while others are more liberal and progressive. Fundamentalists tend to take the bible literally and tend to concentrate more on "rules" or behavior. They often talk about being "saved", but they don't go much beyond that in my experience. The progressive churches recognize that there is more to being Christian and being "saved" than just following rules and reading the bible literally. The progressive churches tend to encourage spiritual and intellectual growth while fundamentalist churches tend to shy away from intellectual matters. There's overlap among these groups, and yes there might be some petty rivalries here and there, but we do try to concentrate more on what we have in common than what our differences are. Many of us volunteer in a variety of civic organizations just because we love people and want to help. Not all of us are judgmental.
