<quoted text>If this is true, you are a poor employee at best, it seems to me that this type of information, were it true, would be confidential and what you read or see is probably not for public consumption. So Mr. know it all, its people like you that cost us jobs simply because you project a bad image on the local work force. Your a liar a traitor and a braggart and you make me sick...
What I love about this, is I'm considered a Mr. Know it all, yet you're assuming this information is classified, secret or just plain private. This information is publicly available to anyone who fills out the proper Freedom of Information Law paperwork with the proper district. You numb nut parasite.

I do not constantly work on base, nor am I a contractor for Rome Labs, or a DFAS Employee. My job is not at risk and I do not care. I do not affect your job by telling the truth, its the fact that the people of DFAS Rome may seem great on the outside, but they get along like a group of half-hemisphere high school children. The number of congressional complaints, EEO Violations, general complaints, customer dissatisfaction, sick leave consumption, overtime usage, budget increases and general lack of production shows that this place is not cost effective. It is NOT scheduled to be reviewed for BRAC until 2015, HOWEVER it is to be reviewed when the committee is at AFRL to determine if it will maintain operation.

I feel that the whole cash cow of govt. spending is immature at best. in cash you didnt know our country is over 13billion dollars in debt.. who cares about rome's economy ? try to be a true american (not a roman) and think of the big picture. the whole country is sinking. lets cut what we can and salvage what little we have left. Let them close, let walmart close, let it all close. in closing new business needs arise and americans rise to meet them. fu=k rome labs, fu=k the usaf base( not the usaf) and move on. everyone loses jobs pick your @ss up, dont drink, and get a new one. I am powerless over anything but myself. accept our current country-wide situation and move the fu=k on !

The loss of Rome Lab is not significant to the local economy. Rome Lab has always maintained it's contracts outside of the local community. Most of the Governmental staff do not live in the local economy. These are just two of many factors that make Rome's Economy pretty much sheltered from the loss of the lab. I am not saying that people who work there do not live here, but the majority do not. Besides, with less than 700 government personnel working at Rome Lab, the Air Force could shut it down tomorrow. Why spend BRAC time looking at a facility that is significantly below BRAC requirements to get involved?
However, the loss of DFAS would be significant to the local economy since most of those who work there actually live in and spend their salaries here in the Rome/Utica economy. But on the flip-side, with all the employee turn around up there and with 10 Congressional Hearings in the 2011Q1 alone, it might make some sense to at least consider removing this Federal Tax Burden? or at the very least, look at why this is happening.
DFAS os COSTING the government money. they ar eLOW paying jobs (30000) per year compared to average at Rome Lab(60000 plus). if they did close rome labs the employee would have bumbing rights at DFAS, so all the newbees would be GONE! DFAS has many congressionals bitching about the POOR bussiness practices. BYE BYE DFAS!.if you look up the last BRACC, all it said was DFAS ROME had to get to 1000 emplyoees, didn'tsay it had to stay there forever!

If you want to be technical they're not stripes they're chevrons. 3 would be an Army Sargent (e5), e4 SrAirmen USAF. These are not the bottom of the barrel enlisted ranks.

Grew up and went to school here, now bust my rear end as a contractor for AFRL for a very nice salary. I don't live in Rome but live in the immediately surrounding area, used to make an effort to spend as much money in Rome vs outside of the area as possible because I used to believe in supporting local businesses. Then got horrible customer service and stupidly high prices, and harrassed by the Rome cops in their attempt to produce revenue (2 tickets for headlight/taillight out within a few months) and decided that I would take my business elsewhere. Now I drive within Rome only when absolutely necessary.
