couldn't agree more people talkin crap but I guarantee they themselves at some point have went to a bar when they were not of age! Bartenders do not try to intentionally sell to minors everyone makes errors we are human just like everyone else so shut ur mouth! It is not as cut & dry as it seems there are many factors that can play into a negative outcome such as this! Atleast we work which is more than I can say for most who frequent this site! Ha

Exactly. Mistakes happen just own it and make the changes so it doesnt happen again. Instead everyone blames the cops. They do these things to make sure people dont get hurt. I think they did a great job and whay they did was important. Good job guys. And the bar owners need to accept that this is an issue and they should be more vigilant in the future.

They INTENTIONALLY neglected to ask for ID. I was a bartender for many years and never found it too challenging to remember one simple question. People might have a little more sympathy for the bartenders error in judgement if they just took responsibility instead of blaming everyone but themselves.

I'm not saying that bartenders shouldn't take blame regardless but it's not an intentional malice a lot of places have door men who should be held equally responsible! The thing I don't like is people down right bashing bartenders when a lot of other parties should be also held responsible. A lot of the problem lies on the fact that bartenders who work at bars with doormen get very comfortable wit the fact that ID is already been asked for & it becomes a normal pattern. I do think the cops did their job & it was a blatant reminder that u cannot always rely on others to do their job to protect u as a bartender. I just wish people would stop acting like all bartenders are dumb & that their intentions are to serve minors. People make mistakes was this a wake up call to many bartenders yes it was we need to just be more careful!

Yes. Bartenders need to know that there is a reason that they are required to check ID, just as every clerk is required to when people ask for cigarettes. You as the person serving are solely responsible when it comes down to it, and if you think the vast majority of bar owners will help you out when the chips are down...guess again. I looked at it very simply: One customer won't keep the bar in business, but it may keep me in jail.
