I think it is about time we took down that LUMBER YARD in the middle of our city called "Ft. Stanwix".

We don't need it, its ugly and I am sick of seeing it!

FUSCO PLEASE GET RID OF THE FORT! Who needs these bums sleeping there at night with that stupid phony wax figure of Sacajawea?

i do find it kind of blah. i have lived here most of my life and whether as a child or adult with a child, i have always found it to be boring. now lets see if we can find out how much cash the fort pulls in and compare that to the cost of upkeep and employees salaries. can anyone help with that

The city has nothing to say or do with the Fort. It Federal property. Write your congressman I'am sure he will get right on that.

DUH another one who thinks the Fort has something with the city. Next thing you know you idiots will want to close Yellow Stone, or some other National Park. Now you want to save money? How about you cut back or your drugs, beer, cigs, and trips to the casino. Bet that won't happen now will it?

Is it possible that downtown Rome was bulldozed, and a fort built in it's place in an effort to make way for the corporation to come to Rome and set up shop?

Maybe just move it. Sounds expensive, but could be an excellent investment. Not to mention return the quality of life to Rome. A new down town with an old feel. Water fountain in the middle, brick roads not for vehicles, but for foot traffic. Trendy shops, and a liberal approach. Something like say Burlington Vermont.

It must have worked better than the current status que. Seeing as all I here is how much the city has gone down hill, nothing to offer, and no place to gather.

You mean when it used to be creeptastic like it was in front of the Capitol in the 80's? WRONG ANSWER.

Why you idiots want to get rid of a national monument that should give you a sense of pride every time you see it, is far beyond my me? This constant bloodlust of hate that seeps from your mouths and fingers is sickening. You must have terrible lives to project so much of your insecurities on historical monument. If anything needs to be torn down it's your persona, lack of appreciation, and sense of self worth. THE FORT STAYS. YOU CAN GO.

I'm not talking about getting rid of it. I'm talking about moving it. Where it sits now is not the original site of fort stanwix. Not even close. To me it was a terrible idea to build the fort in it's current location. A city needs a heart and currently Rome is without one, and on life support. Without a heart I will die.

No one was gathering in front of the capital either. It was SO VERY successful that they opened the road back up, so that they could increase traffic on the road. No one was going to the stores or the large magical fountain that the city had.

When was the last time you visited the fort? How many times would you have visited a revitalized down town in that time between?
