It's not going to be Brown he has fired all his friends at city hall and Rome does not need a dictator

Mayor Brown will most likely win re-election to another term; at this point there aren't many other, if any, viable candidates. In addition to the mayor all of the 7 common councilor positions and the Common Council president are up for election November 2011. It should make for an interesting campaign season here in town. Stay tuned.....

I hope it isn't anyone that is an employee or politician in Rome. We need someone fresh and knows how to run a business like Brown. I think we should try to find some corporate big shot from out of this area that won't be influenced by all the old people running this city.

There is an ordinance. The person running for mayor has to have lived in the area for a certain amount of time. So this wouldn't be possible to bring in someone fresh from out of this area. That's what sucks! We're just going to keep seeing the same faces over and over again.

Wow, I know they have that ordinance. It is sad we have to choose from idiots that have no real experience with a business. We have too many shady people in the current government as employees or politicians. If I had to choose someone, they would have to be against unions, are not related to an employee or politician. We don't want to become another Utica where the friends and family plan is so obvious and under-qualified people are given cushy jobs. The common council could do away with that ordinance to open up a search.

Mayor Brown has to go! He has made more enemies than friends in Rome. He has gotten into several fist fights with potential political opponents and seems to be an unprofessional exclusionist.

Pump the brakes! Like him or not Mayor Brown has been one of the best things to happen to this community in a long time; he cares about this town and those of us that live here. I too will give him my vote for the 3rd time. I disagree with some of the previous posts; there are plenty of hard working community minded individuals in Rome that could certainly emerge as a candidate for public office being either the Mayor or member of the Common Council. We don’t need someone from outside the community; our school district does enough of that for my money….and indeed it is OUR tax money. For example the school district’s resent hire for a grounds maintenance position at approximately $36k annual (more than starting firefighter and police salaries); this job was awarded to an individual from out of state not to mention 2 new directors in the Curriculum & Instruction division….one from Skaneateles and the other from Chittenango both carrying heft salaries. In my opinion a referendum is due on this November’s ballot requiring all city and school district employees and new hires to live in OUR community! Try that on for size! Comments anyone?

I should, the youngest mayor in rome history, dont need a college edumacation to work for the government, just have to accept bribes from corporations to make more laws for them to eliminate outside competition, like stealing, dont do that government hates competition and listen and obey my superiors of jackazz's in my party. Wait, i'm not affiliated with any party to stereotype myself under some label, if it is its libertarian and freedom.

Politics, don't you want a mayor that doesn't get along with the lifetime politicians? It brings balance. I just don't like Brown's stance with the Oneida Indian Corporation. Trying to sell us out. Him and County Exec P need to go.

Not me, if I was there and saw it I would join in by bashing a chair over the head of anyone who starts with him. Just try me when I come back after holidays.

Someone who has experience in applying proven cost effective and waste reduction initiatives, success in business growth and development.
Someone who has no political ties, associations, party and/or personal obligations.
Someone who as a lifelong Roman, who remembers what this city once was like with its businesses downtown, its manufacturing base and efficient/effective city services.
Someone who has a zero tolerance for waste and who understands that when waste is eliminated, the operation of city government will become efficient and as a result, the tax rates will go down.
Someone who leads by example to restore the pride, integrity, confidence and respect in all levels of city government.
Someone who refuses to accept that Rome cannot attract a major non-retail employer and believes that the quality of life in Rome will only improve when the vast majority of the people are employed at good paying, full time jobs.
Someone who knows that as mayor, you are answerable to the people, on all matters, at all times.
