What didn't you get you little whine ass? If it was such a problem then why didnt someone run against Tony? Now your going to bitch about who may be appointed? Should have got your lazy ass out and ran for the job yourself. Stfu
to put it in terms that a simpleton like you might understand "Tony wasn't doing a bad job and there was no reason to run against him" and what kind of an asshole would run against a man that doesn't have long on this earth...maybe someone in your family but not mine.

someone said it earlier "If Tony resigned, Jim Brown would have gotten to chose his replacement so they waited so Joe Fusco could appoint someone he preferred. Tony had great insurance at his workplace and insurance had nothing to do with it.

Where is the spell checker on Topix? However, why are people so anal about someone's spelling. Look at the point they are making, not how they spell it. Only people who claim they never have made a spelling error on here, is about as anal as you can get.
The point is why has it taken so long to find a replacement for the 6th Ward councilor? Tony may have just passed, but the ward has had no representation for some time because of his illness. My opinion is the people of the Ward should have the say as to who they want appointed. Having Fusco (I know its the way the law is written) pick someone is not right. It’s already a joke he has seen to it he controls the planning board, board of estimates and contracts, PSC, and zoning with all his hand picked clones. If the rumors are true, then I will not be surprised at all as to whom he appoints. He is just waiting until that person finds an apartment in the ward so he can appoint him. Welcome to Fusco World.
Here is the plain truth "Joe is waiting for someone to tell him how to do it" and thats no joke

That would not surprise me at all. From what he said in the paper he just figured out what a cell phone and email was for.

The residents of the 6th ward are entitled to be represented on the Council. Having said that,I would be interested to know who the possible candidates (except for Mr. Vescio) could be? Having moved back into the 6th ward,I find very little changed . Roads are decaying, beautification areas on North George Street are crumbling and curbs have been demolished by snow plows. I am left to wonder if in fact it will be put upon the residents of the 6th ward to "adopt a construction project" similar to the Mayor's proposal to care for the plants around the City.

Sorry to tell you this, but Fusco has no plan. The most grips on here is concerning the flower program fusco is planning to get rid of. What he fails to tell people is the money for those flowers came from a grant. The way he comes across is he is saving the city money. He may be under the impression roads and other projects are going to be done by the residents. Don't know aboout you but I think if someone wanted to be considered for the council position they should mmake it known as soon as possible to the media with a copy to Fusco.

Joe Fusco Jr. can't get dressed in the morning let alone decide who is the best suited to represent sixth ward residents that have been without a councilor since last year.
The neighbors and I think he will propose a lottery and leave the winner to chance.

There were some comments at a recent Common Council meeting suggesting that a council seat should be abolished and the council downsized to 6, not the current 7 (the argument in favor being the reduction in overall population down to the current 32k +/-). So it is feasible that the current and absent 6th ward seat could be absorbed or partially absorbed by the current 5th & 7th wards. Might not be a bad idea.
Also, unfortunately doesn’t it seem that the writing has been on the wall for months about Tony’s state of health; if “the elf” were going to move into the 6th ward to make him eligible for appointment to the 6th Ward Councilor seat wouldn’t that have happened by now?
Meantime, let’s see what the oncoming week brings us from City Hall…..

Why must you continue to run off at the mouth and not have a clue as to what you are talking about. Being a councilor in Rome is not a position anyone in their right mind would want.
I do "not have a clue" but you do? You know who I am and how I feel about getting involved in one's civic community? Our city is in a crisis, being a councilor in Rome is EXACTLY what any taxpayer in their right mind should want right now!
Talk, baseless accusations and hollow threats do nothing to help our city...action is what is needed...this was the point of my intial post.

I don't believe you know what area's the wards cover or you would know the third ward is the largest in the entire city. If you want to cover area you could put the 6th 7th and almost all the second ward in the third. Now if you don't believe that go to city hall and check the area map.

it's not by size of area its by number of ppl. that's a common mistake, if it was by geographic size you would be right. but think about it representation is based on density of population not area, or alaska would have 100 members of the house of representatives.

I believe the 6th ward has the largest population of all the wards in the city. Absoring it into the 5yh and 7th wards would be an injustice and not provide balanced representation. Reducing the number of wards (and thus councilors) may be a good idea, but it will require a careful, balanced redistricting.
