If your ill-educated enough to sell things to them, I believe you're just asking to be stolen from. Am I wrong?

they said on the news that the safe was only 1/4 " thick? pretty skimpy for a safe. Leggs stated that "they must have been there for hours".

I only had the misfortune of walking in that place once. A friend who was recently widowed had a cherished piece of jewelry robbed from her home by a neighborhood teen. I went there with her and we BEGGED the woman to check and see if this very unique piece was brought in and she was so nervous and sketchy we KNEW they had it but couldn't prove it. Years later the kid who had robbed my friend admitted he pawned it there. They took a stolen item from a kid who was under age and then had the gall to lie about it when the widow stood before them in tears. They are thieves and deserve a little of the heart ache they impose on this community to come back on them OVER and OVER.

NEW HARTFORD — Evidence dredged up from the Mohawk River this week helped lead police to arrest a Whitesboro man in connection to a break-in and theft at the Leggs Diamond pawn shop in New Hartford, police said.

Shawn M. Prentice, 44, was charged Thursday with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree grand larceny, all felonies, and sent to the Oneida County jail without bail, police Officer Peter Colburn said.

Prentice’s arrest came nearly two weeks after a triangle-shaped hole had been cut into a safe so roughly $200,000 in jewelry and other merchandise could be stolen from the shop.

A series of anonymous tips also led police to Prentice, in addition to evidence recovered from the Mohawk River in North Utica by an Oneida County sheriff’s dive team on July 19, Colburn said. The Utica Police Department also assisted with the investigation.

Additional leads helped investigators recover other property that was identified as belonging to Leggs Diamond, Colburn said.

We had the same problem with that a few years ago. My husband got it back right then. A kid took his class ring and sold it there. The person denied it also.

He just bought a bunch of stolen rings and crap. The owner had to get the RPD to come over to get her stuff back even after she was even willing to pay for it. Well after she paid for it the RPD took it for evidence. I hope they finally nail this bastard.

He is nothing but a fence and I will bet anyone that the burglary was a scam also and he probably paid the person to do it. Then the poor bastard gets caught. I hope he sings.
