Just say no to drones

Rome, NY

#1 Feb 6, 2014
Officials with NuAir, which marketed Griffiss to the FAA and is now marketing the airport to the WORLD. The first drones are expected to be tested in Rome in June or July. Cant wait for objects to fall from the sky. Hopefully they fly them over south Rome.

Are you for or against drones?
On one hand it would change the way we would conduct warfare, saving soilders lives. I can envision smaller more elite units, following drones strikes to clean up. So much changes when you remove the human, the limitations are removed, drones don't get fatigued, need food or bathroom breaks and are truly despensible and that is not even close to all the advantages of having them. As a country, I do not think you can afford not to be on the cutting edge, the future will come, the question is will we been ready for it or just say F it and stick our head in the sand.
On the other hand. Are we really ready to launch a robot army?( we have been using them)How safe is it? Can they be hacked and use against us? Will the government abuse the use of them? Is is moral to kill with them?
I hope for a day when questions like this will be the norm on topix and we have open honest and respectful communication.
People crap all over this and that is ok, I actually find it quiet funny, but this is as grassroots as you can go and it is a real treasure.
It could be a source of knowledge, you can contribute.
Just remember what you project says more about your reality than any thing else.

Thank you! I couldnt agree more! This forum is a valuable tool for both the taxpayers and the people that run the city. Many people look here for useful information that cannot be found elsewhere. I am not going to bash the folks that talk about things that I have no interest in. It is their right to do so. I hope more people take advantage of this useful tool. As for the drones, I believe that the feds have secured the drones place in history. For good or for bad. We, as a city, might as well reap some guilt free benefits in the process.

wow! how stoned are you!
Stoned

Wow, you think these issues are for stoners.
What is going to happen when this country has to have serious conversations about end of life care, is that a druggie thought too?
Do you understand the massive amount of baby boomers retiring everyday? Or should we keep bitching about the horrible wellies , who are leaching off the system, in truth , the numbers on the horizon for the baby boomers are ennormos and the minority that abuse public assistance will pale in comparison.
If this is the way stoners are think, maybe that is why they are starting to legalize it, to chill people out.
Do you really understand what is coming or are you saturated with processed foods and endless entertainment.
So what is your thought? Do you think having drones is a good idea?
Again remember, how you respond tells the reader more about you.

Another big secret that the local politicians have kept from us - there is no federal funding for the drone project. Zero, zip, nada .....

Where is he money going to come from?

No money - no drones.

NUAIR is setup for commercial drone testing. It has nothing to do with the military. The DoD has plenty of places around the country where they can mess with drones.

What are the uses for commercial drones? I have read things for law enforcement and for search and rescue. Do the drones have cameras? Are the recording information? Your car is now recording information, kind of like a black box for aircraft.
I know the military operattes drones out of Hancock in syracuse.
How is leading the technology the private sector or the military?

Those are all lip service lies to make The Plebs feel better about losing their civil liberties and knowing that they are now living in a total police state.

It will only be a matter of time before a plane or drone comes skidding down the blvd. in a crash and takes local lives. Just like the last plane crash in Buffalo. And we all know that there is no emergency crew or plan in place to deal with it. That's why they choose places like this to do this kind of dirt, because of your complacency and ability to turn spite into silent judgements that feed CNY mentality.

You've been sold, down the river, again, just like 1989, 1991, and 1998.

Never learning, never advancing, only destroying your city so more money can go into the pockets of the corrupt.

I'm not afraid of a 5lb foam drone crashing into anything. Which is what most commercial drones are.

One of the biggest uses is agricultural. It's relatively easy to fly over crop fields and determine crop health vs. walking the fields, which can take orders of magnitude longer.

Monitoring of build sites, mines, inspection of electrical transmission wires. Lots of uses.

They aren't flying the toy helicopters w/ a GoPro on it like the one you bought at Destiny from some garbage salesman at center court. THIS is what they are flying...

wake up Plebs. Your country and freedoms are gone. Simple minded responses like the one above about checking electrical lines... should make you sick. Simple justifications so you don't have to face what you've let your society become...pathetic.

You're quite wrong. That's what the military flies. They fly them in Syracuse. Rome is going to be used for commercial UAVs. Not these. If the government wanted to spy on you with a Predator or a Reaper, they would just send one from Syracuse.

Keep the damn things in Syracuse; he don't want them crashing down on us in Rome. I for one am against it. Let's bring other types of jobs and businesses and industries to Rome.

So Naive.
you might want to pull your head of your rear and take a look up at the sky over the park sometime, there's plenty of military transports in and out every day. plenty flying over your city from here to Utica spraying the skies with deadly chemicals. but yup I'm wrong. you are right. they are only gonna fly radio shack heli's for 8th grade RFA science fairs.
This whole place could have been an upstart for a new multi brewery complex and / or the Nascar track that could now support Destiny and the hotel project, but nope... everyone stays quiet, takes the hush money for Nano grants and Drones... and now here we are. A full on police state where no one trusts anyone, and everything is monitored. they prey on your ignorance and complacency.
and atheist btw. all religion is a lie and makes man a fool.

the answer isn't "keep them out of my view". that's so shortsighted and classic CNY mentality.

the answer is to end ALL of this B.S. now. it's gone way too far and it's time heads roll.
