Griffo has always been a PCP...a professional career politician. He hit the jackpot this year...he's running unopposed for senator. So is his fellow wop in the other crooked house, Brindisi. 2 years ago, Greg Johnson, the republican, challenged Brindisi. I know first hand after talking to Johnson...Pissente endorsed the democrat Brindisi for assembly. How that for party loyalty? All of our politicians are self-serving schmucks, be they rep. or dems.

I personally like joe very much and consider him a friend. Unfortunately once he rose above being Mayor of Rome I can no longer support his political goals. It's one thing to vote for a repub at the local level when the stakes are limited to hometown issues but when I see Joe kissing partisan ass when I know his true beliefs are in contrast I have to oppose. His mission changes with the daily news. Every time there's an injustice he rolls out his dog & pony show and pens a new law. Of course there are always existing laws against whatever he's claiming to be our savior and usually his proposals are ignored. Recall his bringing Woodstock 99 to Rome back when he was known as "the rock n' roll mayor. In just 4 days he single handedly imported 1/4 million party animals to our city with more pot, coke, LSD, ecstasy, and other illicit substances
than this city has or will ever.see again. Then when the state govt finally realizes that the Rockafeller drug laws of the lat 60's need to be scaled back he votes against it? Don't like Joe's position on an issue? Give him a few days. He'll change it if it suits him that day...

Truth, I am sure there are many like you who consider Joe Griffo a friend but can't support his political positions much of the time.

I'm not sure how to measure Joe Griffo's effectiveness.

I agree the senator does spend an inordinate amount of time pushing legislation to make something already illegal, illegal again. Do we have that little faith in enforcement of existing laws?

I often wonder whether he truly believes his own words when he refers to the 2% property cap as a "good start down the road to reform." Really?

I blame the ignorant voters in this area for continuing to support these career hacks. I've always said the only people that vote for these pigs are personal friends and relatives. Thats one big reason why the economic development in this area is below expectations. Large firms don't want to associate with our local power brokers who control the purse strings and all the regulations for opening a business.

drive around rome and you'll see all the political signs stuck in the front lawns of their backers patting themeselfs on what a great job he's doing- and what has he done for the area ? oneida cf, closed , mvpc closed, griffiss downsized any more success and we'll be in the top ten cities in usa. his greatest luck was moving on after 3 terms as mayor of rome !

No, because he's a typical greaseball who lived at mommy and daddy's house till he was 52...when he got married, which his marriage is nothing but window dressing.
