Trust me, I started the post and I am not Vinny. Vinny is a nice guy and I heard he does a good job. But I heard his prices have gone up a little. My laptop is not recognizing the drive, won't boot. Maybe a lose cable. And my android tablet won't boot at all. I could fix both is I had the time.

Your hard drive sh1t the bed which does happen, or unless its a lose wire, you can try redoing windows but doubt windows is the problem, there is other things you can do but I aint getting paid to write more technical advice, it would be lengthy and I gave you simple solutions as is.

laptops don't have cables to connect the drive to the motherboard, if possible.... pull off the drive cover, pull out the drive, reseat the drive into the connector and try again to boot, if it still wont recognize the drive then chances are you need a new drive, it could be the drive controller on the motherboard but by far most times when a system will not recognize the drive it is a bad connection or a bad drive

see if you can find a free used working drive somewhere for testing, put that in the laptop and try to restore the system from a restore disk, if it starts to restore without error you can stop right there and simply power it down, buy a new drive, put that in, and then do a complete restore, but if the used test drive fails as well then you most likely have a bad motherboard, good luck

Sounds like a boot sector virus on your drive, or your drive died. Too much porn. You could try the guy out in West Rome. He is retired computer teacher, and lives on Oswego Road. I hear he does work off and on for people, but I think he has to know you. Prices of computers now it might be cheaper to go buy a new one.

It is pretty cool how in demand computer repair techs have become. It seems like a good career to have. I always feel pretty helpless with any kind of computer repair. I just get regular updates and hope for the best!

I would look up an IT company online. This way you will be able to compare prices and reviews at the same time, it will be really efficient. Once you find one that looks good just bring your computer in! Usually services like this can have your computer fixed within 24 hours! http://www.networkplanetinc.com/
