Animal control tells the homeowner to call local pet shops. Wow. And you're paying how much for this individual's position?

What do you want animal control to do. The animal is up in a tree. It is not out of control. Do you want animal control responding to everybody that calls and says there a dog or cat in my front yard. If the animal was attacking people or other animals that is different. The animal was lying up in a tree doing nothing.

Fine. Continue to justify useless city positions - it's your tax money being wasted, not mine.

The iguana was clearly a pet that escaped. Calling animal control would be the thing you do. When people lose their pets they call animal control to see if they have found it or to see if anyone has reported anything. It's animal controls job to remove the animal and bring it to wherever they hold animals. If animal control won't do anything about a call, then wtf are we paying them for?

Animal control is nothing but a fancy name for a dog catcher.
So unless there is a dog in a tree they won't do anything.
I called them one time for a rabid raccoon and they wouldn't do anything about it. I was told I couldn't shoot it because you can't shoot a gun in the city.

I had a fox living in a hole in my yard. I was told that Rome does NOT have animal control just a dog catcher.

Where is this iguana?

So. You would have to be very stupid to not notice that a lizard of this size was missing from your home. And the beast has to be from the locality.

My guess is that somebody was told by their landlord that the critter wasn't allowed, and so they dumped the poor thing. And that's simply cruel. It's getting chilly at night now, and reptiles don't do well being stressed and chilled.

Where is our vaunted 'humane society'?

Is this thing still in the tree for absolute sure? What is the address? Maybe someone should contact the news about this?! Iguana's can not be exposed to such cold elements. If it still is in the tree chances are its dead. But seriously I would like to know if this thing was really rescued or left in the tree to die?

I know a fellah that likes Reptile Jerky.

Everybody wins.

Except the lizard, I guess.
