It was refreshing to see some objective comments made about Raven Rock in Frank Puma's editorial in The Rome Sentinel on 11/12/09. It's about time that Legend Developers is held accountable for their actions.

In case my first reply wasn't received. I do know Doug and have done work for him and his wife on and off for years. I also know alot of other contractors who have also done work for them. I have nothing negative to say nor have I heard any of the others say anything negative in regards to working for them. He and his wife have referred many people to me for which I'm grateful. I have seen the workmanship in his new home as well as some others at Raven Rock and can honestly say someone must of been alsleep at the wheel. To Dougs credit, he calls it as it is, regardless of who it is, I believe the accusations made by Raven Rock residents must be valid otherwise those responsible for the Developement of Raven Rock Estates would not have already pleaded guilty to hundreds of violations and been fined. I suppose he trumped that up too. Until Raven Rock I never heard him complain about any job anyone had done for them. The fact is that several serious issues remain and have yet to be resolved. They cannot sell there homes without disclosing the issues and problems to potential buyers. Based on Local and State agency findings along with my own observations I find it hard to believe that he or any of the other residents trumped up accusations. None of what you say makes any sense. Without facts your comments are pointless!

After reading some newspaper articles about the possible problems at Raven Rock, I have been wondering how some agencies such as the DEC have been able to avoid assisting the homeowners. It is starting to seem like someone is squelching outside interference. I think the investors in Legend Developers have better connections than the people who live there. Does anyone out there have the inside track?

I heard the problems started because of the original inpections by the Town of Lee. Whoever inspected them for Lee passed them and work continued. Then someone complained to the state, they came in and said the fire wall between the condoes was not right.

Raven Rock looks like a correctional facility...like Annsville Youth Camp or one of those centers or maybe an old folks home. I never ever could imagine anyone paying that kind of money for those units. From the road they just look like some developer lacked imagination and was slashing his budget to make a HUGE profit! And HUGE profit he made off the folks in Rome that think they are rich, or pretend to be. Real rich folks still settle into North Rome or leave altogther. I wouldn't bash any of the tenants no matter what, they been hooked from the day they put $1 dollar down on those dumps!Sad story.

I agree with Spot. The developer took the cheapest way out. I don't know about the interior of the houses, but the exterior of the buildings and the grounds is not very attractive. He made a quick buck even though it meant screwing over some of his friends.

In my opinion the Developers for Raven Rock certainly chose the wrong people to try to screw when they veered from the path of selling to the sick, elderly, and single women. They almost got away with it.

My husband and I have been supicous of the whole Raven Rock project from the start. How could they build so many places so close together? I hope nobody is still using well water in the area, all those leach fields. We figured there be problems. The place certainly lacks road appeal. What were they thinking?

I was born in Rome and looked at buying a place at Raven Rock to move back to...until I saw the web site. I own several properties in Atlanta and was amazed at the poor construction. No fire walls...hello? Whomever bought in there...bless their hearts, not only are they ugly but they are built like crap. The builder/developers should be held accountable!

Everyone is looking for someone to blame here.

Why am I not hearing about the licensed architect and engineer who drew up the plans and signed off on them. It seems like they are the ones who originally screwed up and should be sued.

Cheap construction? duh. You should of known that when you bought it. It was obvious.

Sorry to disappoint you but I am not he and I don't believe that for a minute. As I previously stated I have done work for him and his wife for years and have never had a problem with anything. I have seen the workmanship at Raven Rock and find it hard to believe that some of those contractors believe that the work they did was good. I know for fact that there is more than one person who is unhappy at Raven Rock. There are several residents at Raven Rock who are involved in litagation with the developers, builder, and such. I suppose they too are just making up things that don't exsists. Keep trying, the facts speak for themselves!

how come the only people suing are the only ones that still owe money to the contractor? what about everyone else? fact of the matter is the plans were stamped by a license engineer, and the buildings were built per plans. so whose at fault. and again if your a fan of doug you can have him.

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Cancer

You're much more in command of your emotions today, which is just as well. You can get a lot done, as your personal energy and natural empathy is high. You'll be especially effective when it comes to clearing your desk of all the paperwork, and I'm not talking about shoving it on to the floor, either. If you've been waiting for news of a pay rise or bonus, it could arrive any moment now.
