There is no evidence the prisons contributed anything other than economic benefits to this community.

I could make the same argument that the decline in Rome is due to the construction of the Thruway.

Albany, Schenectady, Rome, Utica, Syracuse, Geneva and Buffalo have all seen decline and they're all located on the Thruway. Some of those cities don't have prisons.

I could make an even better argument that the dis-functionality of our state government is responsible for the decline in our cities.

Abolish NY state government!

No evidence. You must be blind. Look at the crime rate increase in the area since the prisons have come to the area. Look at the ethinic groups increase and where most of them migrated from. NYC to be with their families who are in prison here. Statistics show it. Do some research before you run off the mouth again.

How can you compare the Thruway to filthy rotten black welfare scum from NYC?

The decline came after Griffiss moved out. That area ended up being wasted space. The housing there was 100X's better than Wright Park Manor, but waxs never used. Most of the population moved away due to new job assignments and the city officials seem to only think of themselves rather than their constituents.....which really is a shame cuz I would like for my children to be excited about visiting my hometown. But now we just have to worry whether or not we have enough hand sanitizer to keep the scum off.

You are right when it comes to state government! This is without a doubt the biggest drawback in NYS!

Hey Russitano! You can't hide ignorance behind a keyboard. Everybody always knows it's you by the tone and the spelling mistakes. Why don't you and Joe from James Street get together. Between the two of you there is a lot of venom. You both need to get a life.
