The only way to do away with crime is to abolish criminal law.

Our issues with increasing crime and gangs are not "spiritual" lack-of-but more of a "moral"lack- of.The biggest problem is that while gang style, drug related, activity has increased over the years, the more important and pressing issue is to gather more involuntary taxes by way of traffic tickets.PATROL THE NEIGHBORHOODS DUMMIES, before we all have to become vigilante.

That's right, because Americans can't be expected to do the right thing without some jack booted thugs with guns from the government gangs standing on their necks, LOL!

Why do you consider this to be a Godly thing? Was it just because ministers spoke at the meeting?

I am glad to see that the community is coming together to help stop all the crime! About time! More community involvement is better than doing nothing. More police control..tearing down old boarded up houses..neighborhood watch..citizens wanting to get involved with the kids to help them help themselves. There is nothing wrong with church trying to help their community. It is better NOW than NEVER! peaceout sammigirl

After having known "druggies" (dealers and users) and their posse move in and out of my neighborhood, I have had many conversations with local PD. The number one recurring statement was "We need witnesses who are willing to testify." Was this encouraged at that meeting? I sure wish I would have known about that meeting because I definitely would have been there. I would still like to participate in a neighborhood watch. Wouldn't it be great if it was city wide? I refuse to live my life in fear.

You folks, other meetings are planned. We'll try to promote them on the Fish Wrap as they come up, but pastor Eric Fredrick is spearheading so you can call Rivers of Life Church to get more info.

Thanks Newsgal. The more involvement in these communities such as West Side, Jones Ave. and Portland the better. I appreciate what you do, and I'm sure others do too. I hear the police have really stepped up patrol on the West Side.

Thank you for the information. I didn't know anything about the first meeting, maybe I can attend some of them.
