Is it just me or has noone else noticed this? First of all, I don't pay much attention or even believe for that matter, statistics listed for viewership for TV shows, news or websites. They all claim high numbers for ad purposes. However, one statement that I have seen over and over again by the RNW crew is that many more people visit Romewire than Topix. Well, how do they know how many people visit Topix? Mr Duke claims:

In comparison, we Average over 20,000 unique users daily, big news days bump that number to 30,000. Why you ask???
Then how does anyone know how many people really visit Romewire? I'll tell you how. There is a real time counter at the bottom of the pages and it clearly says "The most users ever online was 96 on Tue Feb 19th, 2008". Sorry, but I don't think that 96 people since February "08 is anything to be bragging about and is just a little bit lower than 20,000, no, 30,000. So, I went a step further to find out when this site was created. Are you ready for this? It is almost 10 months old and ONLY 96 people have have ever visited that entire time! WHAT A JOKE! I'm sorry but I just have to believe that more than that visit Topix on daily basis because if for no other reason, it offers so much more information and is crosslinked in alot of different search engines. So that is what these RNW people are defending. IF YOU'RE GOING TO LIE ABOUT YOUR WEBSITE'S VISITORS, DON'T ALLOW A REAL TIME COUNTER FOR ALL TO SEE!

LOL. That 96 number that you are referring to is the most users online AT ONE TIME, not the total number of users since February.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, the counter you are referring to, with 96 users online, is for ROMEWIRED, the hits quoted are for ROMENEWSWIRE..........Two entirely different websites.......also, the 96 number is for the "record" for the amount of people on RomeWired at ONE TIME, not total visitors genius..........Good Lord, thank god you do not work anywhere important.......

good try though..........Next????

Don't you feel like a dumbass now? ;-)

romegasir, how is that you have such detailed knowledge of the inner workings of everything romewire? I just can't help but think that you are Mr Duke because you have way too much knowledge and detail of the whole operation, not to mention an unnatural drive to defend it and so quickly too. I just can't image a regular person being so committed unless they were paid alot of money or were the owner.

First of all, it's absolutely absurd to think that 20-30,000 people would visit that news site on a daily basis, let alone one day. Do you really think that many people like wrecks, crime and fire stories, which from what I've seen in the last couple of weeks is what the majority of the news is on that site?

Let just say it's true. Don't ya think that more than 96 people "at one time" would visit the forum at least once, if for no other reason, curiousity? I would think so. Especially in a time period of 10 months.

Here's some real math for ya! I'll be generous and use the high number. 30,000 x 10 months = 300,000 and only 96 people "at one time" have chosen to click over to the forum from the news site? Hmmmm.

That's just part of it. He claims over 17 million visitors a month to his website in his print edition.

Again, you are mistaken... that is 17 million page views.. not 17 million visitors... If you are going to quote something, get it right!

Every time you click a page, that is a page view. so one visitor could be many page views.

And every time someone comes back to post on his chatboard ... I wonder how many of those page views are accounted for there?

Unique users and page views are 2 different things. A page view can count every image on a page as a view, whereas unique user counts how many time each different person viewed the Website. Yes these numbers are accurate. The 96 was a number of people chatting on the forum-www.Romewired.com at one time. It is the current record.
And yes, the Romewired forum has been open since Oct. 2007, however, the Romenewswire.com website has been up and running by Jerry since I think August 2006.
The unique user count given by Jerry are the number of people who visit the actual www.Romenewswire.com site per day

I think Jerry lacks credibility so his quoting of stats means nothing to most of us. Much like his "cease and desist" threat and the promise of an open records request .. well, the folks in Cedartown may still be working on it for him .. tick, tock as they say. I wouldn't get in a hurry for him, either!

nutcase without a fat ass or fat children .. unlike the ones with cheetos on their avatar that undoubtedly weigh over 200 pounds.

People always resent the prettier, the smarter and the richer .. not my fault!

i don't resent her, don't even know her to know if she's smarter or richer. i'm sure she's prettier than me but that ain't saying a whole lot. i just know she's as bad as RGS making her off the wall posts and would hope nobody would encourage her to get started again ranting

You must not have read all that polkmom posted on RNW or you would not challenge anyone unless you're a relative or possibly even her husband. if that's the case i feel for you.

what I don't understand is why she left there. she seemed to fit right in with them and they would have gladly accepted her sooner or later.

I read one discussion in addition to the one about the EMA Director. I guess we have some of the same values - but we don't allow our children to eat anything with trans fats or sweetened with corn syrup so we're quite the oddity at playgroups! I can sympathize with her zeal to keep her children healthier than society's norms.
We do splurge on the occasional milkshake at Chick-fil-a, though .. that's my weakness!

I think some people just look for something to offend them, and it's amazing that since she left they started a thread about her .. that was vintage newswire!

I do have to say (and we have already established I believe that I'm not the same) using Cowboy at newswire as an example .. they are quick to jump on someone who reads what other people have to say and then are so motivated by their behavior as to finally post .. they jumped on him as being a lurker. Polkmom was labelled a troll. People leave because they don't feel as though their thoughts and opinions are respected .. which is exactly why I've never wasted my time posting over there.
