i met a new board member the other day and if the league director finds more people like the fellow i met, there will be some seriously dedicated efforts to build that program to one of the best in the region.

Build slowly. Don't make the same mistake Floyd County made. Building too fast using SPLOSTs until it is an out of control monster that can't be afforded. Then you end up with tons of recreation locations that you have to pay if you want to step foot in them, several rec locations that regular people are not allowed to use under any circumstances, and overhead so high that the entry fees to play sports are raised to a level where so few people sign up, they have teams made up of several different schools/locations throughout the county so you have to travel to the other side of the county for practices and games. The rec director feels like a king sitting atop the taxpayer built empire and treats everyone like his serfs. He's been knocked down to size now, but not much can be done anymore about the cost.

Paying $100 for a 10 year old to practice basketball 10 or 12 times at a non-recreation owned gym (school), coached by volunteer coaches, and then travel across the county for ALL 8 games when there is a recreation owned gym in this district is ridiculous.

Be cautious what you wish for.

Went down to sign up for little league and it seems to me this new board is on top of things. I believe this may just be the best year for baseball in quiet some time in Cedartown. Keep up the good work folks.

Unfortunately many people have taken their children out of the rec department in Cedartown. I for one have. The rec director is extremely rude and has been bullying local business owners for $. I would not anticipate a good year much less a great year.

The recreation director does not have a thing to do with baseball this year. It is being completely run by a new volunteer board. There has been a change in Cedartown LL baseball this year.
