Ambulance Wars

So it appears an ambulance war that has been going on in Polk and Chattooga County has finally spilled over into Floyd County. The participants are, of course, Redmond and Floyd. After Redmond won Polk County, Floyd EMS chose to put ambulances in Rockmart even though they do not hold the zone. They started the campaign that Redmond used in Floyd years before,“Call 911 and request a Redmond ambulance”. So now they say,“Call 911 and request a Floyd ambulance”. As of late Redmond EMS placed an ambulance at the Urgent Care in Lindale obviously in retaliation to Floyd’s actions in Polk. Now Floyd has went public stating they have put an ambulance in Lindale (Which they say they have had planned for over a year…NOT!). It’s all good for the citizens of Rome and Floyd County but I hope we are not heading back into the past when ambulances raced to calls and fought on the scene over patients, you remember, Mother, Jugs and Speed?

as we both know, ambulances are a great feeder for the hospital.

Very soon you will see exactly what you described in Mother/Jugs/Speed.

One of the ambulances operators will steal the keys from the other guys ambulance, or cut the tires.

This hospital business is tuff LOL

I personally wish it was all privatized and regulated strictly.

Redmond Has proven to me to be the better company. I appreciate the free classes they offer!

Floyd EMS does free classes for our company all the time and they are also heading up and doing Toys For Tots now for Floyd County. I want them if I have a problem.
But I hear there are two other services coming to town starting with non emergency and then possibly emergency. Floyd and Redmond may get a little competition themselves.

There is also a new hospital in the works for 2013-2014 on the Alabama Hwy.(20E)
Its to be a no-frills poor mans dump but probably will cost you about as much as the other two.

You must work there.
They are both good for each other because their competition keeps local healthcare tops.

No, I don't work there. Don't work anywhere actually. But I have children, and we're out in the community at various events.
