Has anyone had a bad experence with kool smiles the bashford manor location like my grandson did? Please post,.I would like to hear, and what is the thing called they use to hold your child down with? and why don't the let the child wait for the nitrates to take effect before doing any denistry work, this is crazy, i have found out that these types of dentist, called mass production dentists don't use sleep meds because it takes to long, and they would lose money, and the take state medcaid, ect to get the patients in need, and get the work done fast, last of all they hollor parent in room when you walk back i wonder what for, and the most disturbing effidence i found was that these dentists are not childrens dentists, never trained in that area, in my grandsons case I just looked his dentist up very new, so new he was just a general dentist downtown previously and had no trainng in childrens denistry, one last thing i will say i called this office I asked questions after the fact because of what happened to my daughter when she took my 2 year old grandson there at the bashford manor louisville ky office, they did not let her participate she got to go back, the gave him nitrate a sedative they qoute said it did take because he didn't breath through his nose, then I they did the procedure anyways with him in horrible distress, my daughter left the room it was so bad. She called me,I called the front office and asked the procedure, guess what i was told a entireley different story, if the nitrate doesn't work they are suppose to be reffered out!!!!!!!!!! got you bashformanor child abuser money makers, thanks for the info you just gave to that poor little two your old your strapped down today, I hope my daughter and son and law get you in court this is horrible, they started putting needles in his gums without the nitrate taking effect, they told her it was not going to work, but told me on the hpone when i called if it didn't take effect right away they would refer him out to a dentist that does this. My poor little grandson is traumatised over this the last i talked to my daughter she said he was saying nothing, you at kol smiles at bashford manor area better get worried another suit coming your way, and by the way the dentist that worked on him was not certified to work on childrens teeth only cosmetic he was new!!!!!!!!!!Any in my area with the same problem please reply i would like to hear from you, they strapped him down just like in the video on utube fully awake, it is pure torture!!!!!!!!!!louisville ky bashford manor formoer patients or other kool smiles patients i would like to hear from.thanks.

Unfortunately some parents do the damage before the child even gets to the office by saying be good or they are going to give you a big ole shot etc. If you don't like the way your child is being treated tell them to stop treatment and leave. They can't force you to stay. They will chart evetthing that happens and is said during the appointment. Some kids are afraid of the toothbrushing they get from dental professionals courtesy of mom or dad.
what??????????how can you stop them when they already statred and it is your fiirst time and they gave the child nitrates, we as humans trust our doctors this is the usa, but not anymore i say get these whomevers out of here and i jail!and ignorants out also!hint!

You don't know at all what you are talking about...Nitrous is used only to relax the child. It doesnt put anyone to sleep. You still have to get numbed up with the needles. If you arent happy with the free help your grandchild was given ...go somewhere else.

My 4 year old's experience was horendous. We are not talking about a little needle prick here. They strapped her in a straight jacket from her neck to her ankles & then just went in on her without saying a word. She screamed in horror from the start to the finish. I begged them to stop & let her calm down, to talk to her & Explain what was happening (like their brochures SAY they do). They responed "she won't listen to us 'cause she's busy screaming, so what's the point", "just calm down mam, this is normal". My baby girl kept gagging on her spit because they had her laying down flat. I wanted them to sit her up at a slight angle, but they just kept snapping at her "If You'd Breath Through Your Nose, You Wouldn't Choke". She left broken. Her spirit had altered, I could see it in her eyes, in her stature. My precious extrovert who'd never met a stranger couldn't make eye contact, wouldn't even look up to accept a toy. It was my first moment of motherhood where I felt I'd failed my daughter.
ok mom earn a little money with a second job to go sedation route - that'll solve it..or pay for laughing gas - it's good stuff

You're absolutely right! Just a bunch a of free loaders and it's not good enough their kids get free dental now they want to cash in. Just remember, it's a generational thang!

Thanks for this website. I had an appointment for my son and had to reschedule. I wouldn't dare let his private insurance pay for this. I called them and it was an unpleasant voice on the other end of my phone. Please parents and grandparents switch dentists ASAP if possible. I just got my son who is 3 to get use to the dentist. He's gone to a pediatric dentist for the past 2 years. I'm sorry to hear that these innocent children had to go through this.

Also, my husband had surgery last week. For every doctor he seen and the hospital it was co-pays.People on welfare paid nothing. He made the statement We should sell what we do have and get in the system. Same doctors, same service. The nurse said You are not the first one to say that. Many people are starting to feel that way.
Don't backtrack. The issue at hand is the abuse Kool Smiles inflicts on children. You previously implied this is the service we should get if we are receiving assistance from the gov't. Rambling on about how some people take advantage of the system does not discredit the fact that our children should be protected from abuse.

And to clarify...
1) Not all parents who use Medicaid are on Welfare.
2) Hard times is not defined as struggling to pay insurance. Insurance is a luxury. Hard times is when (without gov't assistance) you wouldn't know where your child's next meal would come from.

It's not free. My taxes paid for it. I have worked (& paid taxes) for 20 years. And if I now need the help, by God, the gov't. better give me some of that back!

A smile makeover is the process of improving the appearance of the smile through one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as dental veneers, composite bonding, dental implants and teeth whitening.. Smile makeover takes into consideration your facial appearance, skin tone, hair color, teeth (color, width, length, shape and tooth display), gum tissue and lips to develop your ideal smile. Smile makeovers are performed for many reasons and customized according to your unique considerations.

Kool Smiles is a company who hire Dentist to do the work. Is up to the Dentist to decide what is best for the child. There are a lot of parents asking for papoose and if the Dentist is not willing to use it the parent gets upset! If they use it is child abuse! What about pedodontist (specialized in child care) using papoose... What about Dental Schools? Are all of them abusing children? Or we try to blame somebody else for our neglect? Let's blame kool smiles or the doctors because we didn't take care of our children teeth! When we neglect our kids mouth should Kool Smiles or the Dentist call Child Protection Services for neglect?
Would be interesting to know....

Just because a family does not have the money for medical care they should not recieve substandard care. If you were in the same finacial statues you may rethink your opinion. And regaurdless of insurance no person (child or adult) should be treated differently. All should be receive optiomal care, equality, safety, educated physician and staff. Comments like yours shows the negative spectrum of our society and hummanality. Get your concious on tract before you start making anymore comments.

I am not back tracking. Just tired of working and paying out of pocket for health care and people who pay nothing are bit**ing about free services.

These posts are absolutely crazy. So I am reading and some people suggest that if a service is free those people who receive the service shouldn't complain about it(crazy right). These are children we are talking about and the parents who hear and seen they're kids crying and screaming, why didn't you stop it(I would have). There is no possible way that anyone is going to stop me from getting or grabbing my child out of a dentist chair. Also everyone who receives Medicaid is not on welfare. The stipulations to be on welfare aren't even worth the hassles. Also you have to pay welfare back. Whether you get a job or its coming from child support, you pay every single penny back that welfare gave you!! Stop complaining you a**hole. Get a life!!

It's up to you the parents that ultimately allow this treatment to occur. If the doctor or dentist does not allow you to go back to the treatment room, then you should choose another doctor or dentist that fits you and your child's needs. ASK QUESTIONS before your child is treated. Know what is going to happen before it happens, that way you are not surprised when it does. And please don't feed your child a big breakfast when you bring them in for treatment, it's just common sense folks. If the child pees on himself or herself during treatment, then it's a simple solution of just asking them to go to the bathroom before they start. It's a normal reaction to being scared or nervous. And let me ask this question. How do you think these cavities got here in the first place? Are these 2 and 3 year old children going to the grocery stores and buying these sugary foods, or are parents and grandparents supplying them with McDonalds (yes a hamburger and chicken nuggets has carbohydrates and sugar in it), soda, and candy? One should step back and take a look at this.
