Everyone has the right to choose what type Doctor they want.
I was abused by an Ex woosy myself. Somehow when women are in that situation, The Man has complete control and the women usually feels like a "nothing", that's why it takes them a bit to finally get up the courage to say "enough". It took me 2 yrs. and I agree even 2 yrs. is to long but,MSO4, you might try to understand abuse a little, before you judge. Abuse is a terrible thing, I went to counciling to get over my hangups, that jerk left me with. I'm fine now, but would never ever never put down someone who has been abused in any form. Just something for you to ponder MS04, no insult intended.

I .
Thats right, but they do not have the right to say that all male Dr's are somehow molestors. Those folks are twisted in their beliefs.

Agreed MSO4,I was abused, but I don't think all men or male Dr.'s are the same. Sure for a while I didn't trust men at all, but I got thru it and over it. I see now that's what you're trying to say, for those with the beliefs you mentioned. They need to realize, as I did that not all men are creeps and move on, life is to short.

Not all male doctors (small percent) are abusers, but so far all sexually abusive doctors have been male.

You got some facts to back that up? Are you saying no female Dr. has ever sexually abused a patient?

Can you name one? Didn't think so. Many CONVICTED male docs listed earlier in this forum. Even if one woman was found the overwhelming vast majority are males.

Isn't it easier to just get a female OB/GYN, vs a C-Section!
Yep wrote:
My older brother was an OBGYN in another Georgia city, And my late wife was a registered nurse. Neither his wife nor myself were concerned about our spouses dealing with the opposite sex. They were both (strong) christians and professionals. I would like to make a suggestion, If you and your spouse feel this stronly about dealing with doctors and nurses of the opposite sex i have a suggestion as far as delivery is concerned, every thing else can be addressed by scheduling. The ladies can schedule a C section and this way you can have a lady OBGYN. This is a way to put this issue to rest.

What a sic so called dr & sorry arse nurse, RN's have power & 'are' accountable incl by legal suit...not to mention all people ethically, but if your female 'dr'(or anyone for that matter)was doing this...obviously morals & ethics were no issue. I'm very sorry that happened to you...esp coming from a woman who of all should sympathize w/ sex assault & molestation huh? Anyway, I would file a complaint w/ Medical board & add to record, if you havent & its not too late. May God bless.

Regarding how a gyn (either gender) could commit sexual misconduct while a female nurse is in the room; true, she may not notice or realise, but even if she did, whose side do you think she is on? Do you really think that a nurse is going to speak out against the doctor who employs her? Someone who feels more comfortable having a chaperone there would do better to bring a friend, spouse or partner to the exam with them. Any doctor who objects to such a support person being in the room is not to be trusted. You should ask them "What don't you want another person to see?"
For the record, the last two times I was abused by a doctor, the doctor was female and she had a nurse in the room. The first time, the nurse stood by and did nothing, and the second time I managed to push the doctor away before she violated me, then I had to content with her telling me I had no right to prevent her doing an exam (which incidentally had nothing whatsoever to do with the reason for the visit, and that I had already refused verbally and on the consent form), and the nurse standing next to her backing her up! Some protection.

I'm soo very sorry that all happened, I pray God blesess & heals in every way...remember it was not your fault.

It was a male who sexually abused me for nine years in my childhood. He would insert objects into intimate areas. I refuse to have male doctors or nurses perform intimate care upon me. I know they are there to help me but if they induce extreme anxiety and panic attacks, they are hurting me more than helping. I would prefer a Lesbian OB/GYN over a male any day. I have endured a lifetime of hell and I should not be traumatized by those claiming they only want to help me. Even though the male doctor or nurse is not my abuser, he still has the same look, parts and smell. I am appalled at the lack of compassion of some of the male doctors posting here.

I am sure way way back 100's of years ago when women had babies at home with no modern meds, many of them were Christians and had male doctors come into the home and deliver their babies. I am sure the last thing on their mind was if a male was delivering that baby! I am sure those women just wanted to get through the labor and deliver a healthy baby as quick as possible! My OB/GYN of 25 years is a male who's wife also runs his office in Chattanooga. I couldn't imagine anyone else ever delivering my 4 children and by the way, he is a Christian, went to Med school 8 years and does his job because it was his calling to do so.

Really? people die today everday from medical mistakes. What is your point.

This thread is about uptight, anxiety ridden men who are deathly afraid that a male MD might see their wifes pescious vagina during a procedure. What they should really worry about is how many men saw that thing before they got married.
