Any one else tired of these "well to do people" asking everyone to pay for their kids to play sports?

Guess your kid didn't make the team. You can't have a traveling team without some funding. The volunteers are successful people who are giving their time, talent, and resources to these younsters. What have you given to your cummunity lately? Just sayin'.

The people that run the organization are a bunch of country club drunks that cheat on their wife's with their secretaries, we all know that. They do it for their kids not the good of the community so don't get all high and mighty. Just think these successful good doers should foot the bill.

You are just wrong, buddy. I know these guys to be in it for all the right reasons. And "we all know that" is just your opinion. I sense some jealousy and disappointment . Get over it.

Smoke and mirrors and the reason is their kids not the community not buying it. I'm pretty sure one of em is being indicted for insurance fraud and arson. Yes great group of guys you got there.

The individual you speak of that has been indicted for insurance fraud and arson has been removed from the organization. If you don't care for the organization and the people involved then don't be part of it and quit bitching. If you believe what you say then start your own club. You seem to have all the answers. Truth is you don't know a damn thing. There are some great people involved in this organization and is supported by many. Get a life.

I don't have a kid playing for them but I have seen how they run things. They run an awesome program that benefits the kids tremendously. Most the kids that play on the team aren't children of the coaches so what are you bitching about. Tourneys cost money to play and the sliders have a bunch of teams. Local business love to help support these kids and the VOLUTEER coaches spend a lot of time and effort to improve the skills of these kids. And from playing against them, they have excellent teams that are fundamentally sound. So to me, it looks like these guys you are bitching about do a great job for your community.

Not all true I have sponsored them in the past but if and when they come asking for money it will be a no. I agree not a bad organization but they are successful people so let the parents foot the bill. It was a waste of advertising money that I could use on my kids.

I know for fact that 7 scholarships were given to families last year in order for their kids to have an opportunity to be part of the organization, so not all are as "successful" as you state. Just hard working parents that need a little help in order for their kids to be part of something special to them and have fun at the same time. You have a choice to donate or not. No one is forcing you, but its the kids you are taking away from not the "successful parents". Plenty of supporters in this community willing to help out. It's not about advertising, it's about supporting these kids whether you care for the parents or not. Don't hide behind a fake name on Topics, approach the organization so you know more about what is being done for the youth of Rolla. They don't put All-Star teams together using kids from other communities like a lot of these other local teams. It is strictly Rolla kids only. By the way, there is a player fee and the parents work hard during fundraising events.

It costs us $100 for my son to play on a st James traveling team and I raised $600 in sponsorship money myself. You will pay money on any towns traveling team to help pay for uniforms and tourneys. That's just the way it is. If you gripe about paying for your kid to play on an organized team, then you probably never go to your kids games because that'll cost too much as well. Everything costs money so who's supposed to pay for it? These "well off" volunteers are supposed to pay for everybody's kids? Gimme a break. The coaches put enough in by volunteering their time to make the local kids better at sports.

It's parents trying to relive their lives through their kids. It's a popularity contest. No my kid wasn't cut or denied playing, I have a nephew on the team and that's all his parents worry about. They have to put him in stuff that all the Drs kids are in or so n so's kid. Give it up.

i am a single mom who has had two kids that have played on traveling teams, and to say it's not worth anything is quite a statement. I have a child going to college in which she got a full ride due to the sports that she played from kindergarden up to college. Yes at times it was a hard stretch for me to come up with the money but i did, and i might say it has payed us back tremendously! she will graduate college owing less that 25,000 which is amazing opportunity for her! That i would have not been able to provide. Sometimes we must make sacrifices for our kids! I did and i am very glad i am giving my children that opportunity. I never played sports and was never reliving my glory days!

There are better ways to donate your money. Gave them money the past two years but that is going to end. Have no use for the guy that runs it. Went to HS with him he was jerk then and he is no different now. I agree they do it for their kids not the community. I have no problem with it other than stop asking us to pay for your kids to travel the parent should foot the bill. They waste a lot of it on fancy banners etc.

You make no sense. You say they do it for there own kids, are there nine coaches to a team? I'd say there are only 3-4 coaches tops, per team. That would mean all the other kids are somebody else's whom they put just as much effort in coaching. An organization like this is an investment in the community. These kids grow up to represent your town in high school sports. How good would they be when they are older without programs like this? If the guy in charge is such a jerk, why would he spend so much time helping his community? It takes good people to put that much effort into something. And if you donated money to them and they didn't make those sponsor banners (which are cheap by the way) you would gripe even more because then you have nothing to show for sponsorship. As I said, you make no sense. It's sad people want to gripe about something that's open to all the kids. My sons team isn't even open to any other kids, they're hand picked. We pay to be on the team, get sponsors, and do whatever else to help. I would much rather do that than have my son just play in town leagues where coaching is non existent and there would be no improvement to my son. Sorry for the rant. I just think people have these misconceptions and can't see the upside in this organization. I wish st James did this, I'm too lazy to help though. Just like the other people who want to gripe.
