Why is it the the marching band that has 170 kids in it that bust their bottoms get no support from the school. The funding that the band gets compared to sports is insane. These kids work just as hard if not harder than some of these sports but no support from their school. It's sad that these kids are not recognized more. The football team sucks can't win a game. At least the band made finals for their first competition. The only recognition they get is from their directors and parents.

How much money does the band bring in for ticket sales?

Wow, I came here expecting more hate to the band, instead I found an understanding person. Thank you. You are right in everything you said. Would you mind telling me if you are in band or not?

You learn lifetime skills in the footsball and talents that will take you far in the military service to our country. You leaern to fite so you can go to war for our country's millionaires to protect their interests so they can trickle down and make us greater.

Have you ever watched a band field competition. These kids have to follow direction to a tee or it throws off everything. The is much to marching band and the skills they learn will also help them through out life. And from personal experience. Most football players are cocky, rude and not yet learned how to be polite to their elders. That attitude will not get them far in life.

Joko-you are right in what you said, but band dies the same, just in different ways. Band also teaches leadership, dedication! Much needed traits!!

Absolutely none. We get hardly any money from the school district. We raise our own money to be able to do what we love. We work hard every single day. No one respects us at football games & it's beyond frustrating. We work just as hard as any other sport. You have 2 hours of practice after school? We have 2 hours before. We compete just like you do. Marching band is physically taxing no matter what anyone thinks. Right now, a girl in the drumline busted her knee marching on Saturday. We've had twisted & rolled ankles, sore & pulled muscles. It's very VERY hard physically.

I don't play football, and I don't really know how it all works out and how it is played. So, I don't really have the right to criticize the people who are involved in football, or have any reason to bash them. I'm not against football, but I don't necessarily love football. Everyone is just to their own opinions. I think the same should go towards the band or any other sport or activity. I take that you Joko, are not in band and are in football, just a guess. You're probably very dedicated to your football playing and you're striving to become a better player more and more by each practice. If someone were to bash football, I would hope that you would try to defend it and give every reason to deny what that person may think. I'm in band.I love band. I strive to become better, to become the best like you. It takes dedication, hard work, stress, sweat, and so many more things to become the best. Same goes toward football, I see the football team prac. everyday for hours afterschool. We practice for hours too. Our music may not be what you listen to on the radio, or sound like the typical rock'n'roll, but where do you think those people started? Maybe not through marching band, but they had to learn something about music. You can't just walk into a room not knowing anything about music or how to play an instrument and expect to have a wave of beautiful music to spew out. I couldn't be handed a football on a football field and expect to score a touchdown and just somehow know exactly what to do, where to go, who to throw the ball to, or who to tackle. Football and Marching Band/Band are different, but I think I've stated a fair agreement that in a way they are similar. I don't understand why there needs to be a big deal between the two, why we can't respect one another and just go about our ways. When people criticize how the band sucks and how we should stop playing all together at any sporting event it feels as though I'm being picked out individually and told that I suck, and no one cares and that they hate me and wish I would just leave even through all the hardwork I have gone through. Is that how it feels to those football players out there when someone criticizes or bashes you? No one deserves to feel that way no matter what you have done, who you are, and where you come from. So, this is me apologizing and forgiving for any hurtful or critical thing that has been said between the two. I wish the football team luck in there upcoming games, it would be nice if we were given the same.
