There are both good and bad teen moms just as there are good and bad moms of all ages. Being a teen mom is not idea but it happens. I personally know several teen moms that work there behinds of to support there child while at the same time further there education and take no help from the state. I also know several "grown" adults that sit on there ass draw from the state and whine about how bad they have it while doing nothing to help themselves and at the same time teaching there children to grow up and do nothing with there lives. And I can almost bet that most of the topix on here get started by exactly them individuals.

I'm a teen and a mother and I an doing everything I can to give my child the best life I can possible give. Just because I'm under the age of 20 does not make me a bad mother.

As really said, there are bad moms who aren't teenagers too and most of the teen moms I know are very good mothers.

There are probably more bad "adult" mothers than there are teen mothers. Yeah there are some bad teen moms. And clearly they weren't ready for children. Things happen. atleast she chose to give that baby life rather than terminate it. And also I don't kno how any of you have the right to Judge "bad moms" no ones perfect. We all make mistakes. All you can do is hope they grow up and realize what an awesome blessing these young moms have.
But until then, stop bitching about It because its not going to change anything. If someone is truly doing harm to their child, TURN THEM IN, instead of sit on this site and talk crap on them..

What do we as society concider a bad Mom? Is it the age of the mother? Or is it how we nurture our children? Teach them right from wrong? Lead by example actions speak much louder than words! As I stated in my earlier comment there's good and bad of all ages it's a sad world when no one has anything Better to do than put down someone else. I was raised that it takes a village to raise a child so wouldn't it be nice if the "adults" would take there energy and use it for good here's a thought next time you see a teen mother or any mother for that matter struggling instead of being judgemental offer a helping hand it doesn't have to be money etc how about a word of encouragement!! It's just a thought

If you get any kind of assistance for formula ,diapers ,food or anything like that I consider you a bad mother because you can't afford to have the child. If you rely on your mother or father or the father of the baby's parents to pay for all this you're also a bad mother.
I'm a teen mom and I work full time and go to college full time and my parents help me out when I need it because with the economy the way it is now its almost impossible to do things on your own without some kind of help. That does not make you a bad mother or parent in general. Now a days money is really tight for everyone. So before you open your mouth maybe you should try and look at people's situation. Just because they ask for help or accept any kind of help it DOESN'T make them a bad parent, period.

Getting help with formula and other stuff does not make anyone a bad mother. The way I see it is that the person knows that they cannot do everything on their own so they use the resources that are available to them when need be. I think its actually very good for moms to utilize everything that they can to male the beat possible life for their kids.

This is one of the most ridiculous statement I have read thus far. No one can see the future and know that there might be something happen beyond your control that you would need help. I have known people that had wonderful jobs and made a really good living lose there job because either the company went bankrupt downsized etc anyway my point is they went from having money to not and had to have help so my point is your saying they are bad parents because the needed help? So should anyone have children? Because I know from experience things happen beyond our control. Maybe you need to let us in on your secret on how you can see the future and know for 100 percent certainly you would never need help!! Do you have children? A solid job? Or do you still live at home with your parents? I'm not saying that there's not people that abuse the system because sadly there is but what I'm saying is just because someone need help does not make them a bad parent

There are too many teen moms out there that accidentally get pregnant and in no way can support a child on their own at that point. Once upon a time that was me. I never used any kind of assistance other than Medicaid until my insurance kicked in at work. For all the moms that can't do it are a bunch of worthless moms because I get paid minimum wage and somehow manage to live check to check always having everything I need. If you decided to "utilize" the assistance programs maybe don't "utilize" them all. Try growing up and being independent. You have a kid now, right? Maybe straighten out your priorities. Your baby comes first, not your hair, your nails, your expensive "essentials" that you really don't have to have. If your young and don't plan on setting a good example for your child, just know your going to pay for it later.

You do have some good points however as I stated earlier there out good and bad of all ages. Do you as a young mother feel like its fair to judge all teen moms because of the ones that don't do the right thing? What's being said is because your a teen mom your a bad mom and you stated your doing the right thing working and taking care of your child.

Just because someone takes help, help that is offered, it doesn't make them a worthless mother. It makes them human. Not everyone can just live check to check, especially with bills and whatever else they have to support their child, themselves, and to have a roof over their head. Even grown, independent adults need help sometimes. I always, always put my child first before myself. But you also need to take care of yourself if you plan on taking care of a child.

The government needs a quick catering to you people. Free food, free formula, assistance with school for single parents. It's not right. If they help you out with that, why don't they help out the people who is smart enough not to have the kids when they are young
The government helps out anyone who needs the help, with house assistance, food, school, etc. It's not just the parents, single or not that they help out. Amd yes I do agree with you, some teen moms plan their pregnancy. But others don't. Accidents happen, no matter how hard you try to prevent them to happen. I was on birth control and we even used a condom, but I still got pregnant. Its a blessing, a miracle, something that was supposed to happen even though I tried everything to prevent to get pregnant earlier. But my child is my blessing and my miracle. You can't always prevent something from happening, especially if it was meant to happen. I think before you judge single parents, teen moms, and people who take the help that is offered you need to look in the mirror and reflect on your own self because obviously you know nothing about a person, their situation, or anything about them until you walk in their shoes.

I know I'm not a bad mom. I chose to get a job and better myself rather than living off the state. I pay bills. I pay for everything. I can do it. I don't understand why all other people can't either? Because they don't want to and don't try hard enough. Make sense? It's hard but do-able.
