Yes another American company bites the dust. I thought the plan was to create more jobs not make sure thousands more lose them.

These ppl should have compromised since they knew the company was in trouble. When the company got on better financial footing they could have negotiated to get back the things they felt they needed. These are hard times and sacrifices will have to be made to keep businesses going.

Running a business is a balancing act that not everyone is good at. The good ones get paid a lot. Obama emboldened these union guys to think the company owed them something they did not. Yes, these guys got their wages cut and the company had recently declared bankruptcy. But instead of letting those that wished to take a pay cut continue working, the union guys decided to take down the whole operation. Now, no one has a job.

It becomes unsolvable regardless of UNIONS or EMPLOYEES intentions. Unfunded retirement plans, increased cost of commodities ie sugar, flour and dairy products, gas for deliveries, modernization of plants etc and a company such as this just can not compete going forward. The scope of the problem was more than asking employees to take a pay cut and contribute to their healthcare cost. Breaking up the company by selling its assets and brands could bring a significant number of employees back to smaller organizations.

You are right. The Twinkie will likely be back. In the end, maybe this will be for the best when the Twinkie is no longer made by union members.

Obama and Trumpka are in bed together. Obama is basically the top union guy in the nation. Obama hates business and thinks they stole money from everyone else. They didn't build that. Obama's all for killing a business to increase union wages. Because he believes businesses all have a giant pot of gold at the end of the rainbow that should be distributed to the workers. He emboldens these unions to think they have all sorts of leverage, and he will help them crack open that pot of gold. The problem is, the pot is empty after four years of Obama. Now's when the layoffs start hitting us hard as I'm documenting for your viewing pleasure on another thread.

This has nothing to do with Obama.. The Bakers Union and 4 other unions that are apart of Hostess went on strike and nobody showed up to work for a week or so. If nobody shows up to work nobody, not even the heads of Hostess makes money. Since they couldnt meet there demands they pretty much said fuck it(because there making money either way) and are probaly gonna go into liquidation and sell everything. The workers were warned many times that this would be the ultimate outcome if they would not give in just a little bit and they refused until the very end. My source I read from: The Washington Post

You won't find a direct link. A climate has been created. It's like when Clinton lied under oath. A climate was created that you could lie and get away with it. That mindset helped lead to Enron, Worldcom, and others.

Now, we have a president that hates business and loves 'The Worker.' It has created a mindset amongst unions that they can flex their muscles with impunity. That overreaction will lead to many more bankruptcies amongst union business. Mark my words. If you don't believe me, say so. I'll be posting I told you sos as they come up if you do.

I'll be posting I told you sos for the next 4 years. Funny how I could give Republicans a bad name when I'm not a Republican. My influence transcends parties.

as Hostess was preparing to file for bankruptcy earlier this year, the CEO of Hostess was awarded a 300 percent raise (from approximately $750,000 to $2,550,000) and at least nine other top executives of the company received massive pay raises. One such executive received a pay increase from $500,000 to $900,000 and another received one taking his salary from $375,000 to $656,256.

Let's see..., Little Debbies sell the same thing at less than half the price, Hostess tripling their CEO's pay this year while cutting the salaries of workers. Hmmmm...., yea it's the union's fault.

The Twinkie is alive and well its main ingredients are fluff or air, we are just rebranding it and calling it Killa, too much of it though will bloat you and make you sick. New York City is limiting the Killa for minors. It is as harmful as the frosting they sell at Country Mart.
