If I want to spank my kid at Walmart for misbehaving, then it's my choice and not against the law. Leave me alone. You don't know me and my son!

You're frickin a right. There is a difference in abuse and spanking and kids seem to do better in public when you spank them in public. When you let them get by with acting up around crowds of people then they will misbehave every time because they know they won't get spanked when other people are around

Spanking is teaches violence is okay to children. But this is the world we live in now where everyone sticks their nose in everyone else's business. Leave her alone you nosey libs. Don't try to save the world because your parents screwed you up.

If I want to spank your ass in the middle of Walmart for being a dead beat parent then I will. It isn't against the law. Stupid ass. Spanking is for uneducated rednecks.

spanking is not necessarily for public scenarios. If my kids act crazy in walmart i squeeze thier arm and quietly threaten them. I dont think I have ever had to follow through on the threats. It is very frustrating when kids act out in public and parents who do not discipline their children are asking for trouble. Yeah I beat my kids' asses if they act crazy and that is none of john q. public's damn business.

Threating only teaches the kids only that your a liar which they probably already know and also teaches them to have no respect for you. Glad you do spank, More of them need it and would be less out of control kids. Note I said spank -- not beat.

As long as children have a full understanding of why they're being spanked it is fine. I explain to my children why they are getting spanked. To spank out of anger or just to be mean is abuse! Before you go into a public place you should instruct your kid(s) to behave and explain to them the consequences if they don't. If you do that at least they know what to expect if they do misbehave and have pre-understanding of their punishment.

I do have to say if you're in public and your kids need a spanking, you're not in control and as a parent that's your job...to be in control 99.9% of the time. My kids know how to act when in public and they do fine, even my seventeen month old son!

Two things to avoid an outbreak of children misbehaving in public:

1.Don't take them in public when they are hungry
2.Don't t take them in public when they are tired

I'd also like to say spanking doesn't teach violence, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Having a child out of control and not obeying rules teaches them violence, discipline doesn't!

Omg people!!! Spanking is not violence! As long as you are not beating the child. Most people had spankings when they were younger and they grew up with respect. I know did. If more people spanked their kids then maybe we wouldn't have the horrible disrespectful teens that run around now. I know my kids do get spankings when they are being bad and guess what they don't act like most of the kids I see around. That's what's wrong with the world today. People thinking that spankings is wrong or child abuse. Plus it's no ones business how someone disciplines their child unless they are actually beating them. Mind your own.

Out of context? You do know we can all read it because it's right there, right? You've got to do better than that if you dare challenge me.

There is a whole big paragraph to qualify the statement and you ignored it all, Teagag.

Definition: rough or injurious physical force, action, or treatment: to die by violence.

It's pretty clear.

She said, "As long as you are not beating the child." It's clear from the definition, that is not a prerequisite. Sorry floodbart. I know you were really hoping to be right this time.

I can vaguely remember having my breeches pullled down in the middle of Walmart by my mom when I was five or six years old because I was having a hissy fit. You know something? I never did that again. Kids today are spoiled rotten because people say it's "wrong" to spank, discipline, punish, or even yell at your kids, and the result is a bunch of kids and adults who think they can do no wrong and that nothing can touch them. There is nothing wrong with spanking at all. Kids need discipline sometimes, and occasionally they need to be taught a lesson. A spanking now can prevent a loss of character later in life.
