So let me get this straight. As I understand it, the government enlists soldiers into the military, trains them to fire, handle, and operate a firearm, gives them a love of this country and a duty to fight for and protect the rights we all enjoy, then sends them overseas to fight and kill terrorists that threaten our country.
Then, when they come back from active duty, their freedoms are stripped, their rights regulated, their gov't training labeled as indoctrination, and they are listed as domestic terrorists after spending years fighting terrorists in other countries. Now the gov't is sending letters out to our vets telling them, "Thanks for your service, but we now think that you are incompetent to handle or own a gun. You now have *this* long to turn in your weapons and ammo or we will confiscate them and throw you in jail."
Am I the only one on here that is absolutely disgusted by this?

Democrats/Liberals despise the military, and everything it stands for. They view veterans as their biggest threat in the eventual total takeover of America. Liberals have begun labeling Veterans as potential domestic terrorists for at least the last 6 or 7 years. Veterans are patriotic for the most part (most of them anyway) and know the price that has been paid for freedom in America. Most ordinary Americans who have never served take their freedom for granted, and some are even led to believe that the military is bad. Much of that is taught in the public school system.
I hate to say it, but I truly believe America as we know it (or knew it) is almost dead. People may think things are bad now, but this is only the beginning. The Constitution being chipped away little by little, the patriot act, eroding or elimination of our constitutional rights, etc. Think about it, the liberals have been wanting to eliminate the Second Amendment long before any school shooting or mass killing ever occurred, basically for DECADES!!! Can you think of many mass shootings before the previous assault weapons ban be gain in 1994? I can't!
And then with the Department of Homeland Security recently purchasing over 2 billion HOLLOW POINT BULLETS!?!? You don't use hollow point bullets for Training or target practice. Hollow points are meant to kill, period!! And 2 billion??? There is something big brewing folks, and if you aren't armed already, I am afraid it might be too late for you and your family, There are still high capacity weapons for sale out there, but they are at a steep price. Finding the ammunition to go along with them is even harder to find. I had hoped I wouldn't see it in my lifetime, but I am afraid things are going to get real ugly in a few short years. I hope I'm wrong, but it is looking more and more all the time that we are edging closer and closer to either an all-out civil war or at least some real bad times.

I agree with you, Thug. It's funy you mentioned the mass shootings. I actually did some research on the subject after the first few of them happened. Between 1906 and 1995, there were 16 school shootings in US schools, most of which were stopped by ARMED TEACHERS OR PARENTS. In 1995 the law was passed making all schools gun-free zones, and since then there have 125 school shootings. That's right, ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FIVE AND COUNTING, all in gun-free zones.
This is getting far too out of hand. First we try to disarm our citizens, then we outright try to ban them, and now we're disarming our veterans for the sole reason that they were trained, by the government, to handle and use firearms. I fear that there is something happening here and I greatly fear that a civil war is on the horizon.

Mokid, you misrepresented the situation

...Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, wants veterans who have been deemed “mentally incompetent” to not buy or possess firearms.

Those that have already been deemed mentally incompetent are already inelligible for purchasing guns, but in the last couple of weeks the VA has started sending letters out to veterans, perfectly healthy veterans, which state that they "may be declared incompetent" and now have been threatened with incarceration if they do not give up their weapons. These men are not incompetent, they are not suffering from any ailments or sickness for the most part. They have simply been targeted for gun confiscation by the VA for little or no reason. Look it up and you'll see for yourself.

If that's what you want to believe, be my guest. I know or know of several vets that have received these letters, none of whom are actually incompetent in any way. If you want to keep your head in the sand and refuse to believe anything is wrong, go right ahead. Doesn't change the fact that there is something very wrong going on here.

You are hard to believe, eleven I have talked to over the last week and none have heard of this. Why try to stir something up that is not there?

Keep digging. This IS real. It IS happening. Don't take my word for it, just keep looking. I have seen the letters myself and I know the men that have gotten them. These are good men that are very competent and very good Americans. I wish this was false, but it isn't. Keep digging and you'll find the truth.

They applied for section 8 disability like Corporal Klinger or they would not have received such letters. You don't know anyone who received the letters. You read about it on the right-wing blogs. So shut up with your lies and go away.

I know four men that have received these letters, one of whom is a twenty year Navy veteran that served with distinction for his entire career and left the service with an honorable discharge. Another is a Vietnam vet who served in Marine Force Recon for ten years and also received an honorable discharge. The letters they received specifically stated they "may have been declared incompetent". No psych evaluations, no therapists, no reports, just a letter that tells them they're now incompetent to own a gun and that they have to give them up or be arrested. There is nothing wrong with these men at all and the only thing they have in common is that they all served in or in conjunction with a Spec Ops unit during their time in the service (Marine Forced Recon, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers).

The right wing blogs show copies of such letters and you are mis-representing them considerably.

Start looking up old classmates and distant relatives. Just use Google. There is some kind of movement going on in this country to get almost all males into the "system." I know of 5 middleclass men who have been giving very harsh sentences for little things like speeding. One man got 2 years unsupervised probation & comm service plus fines just for speeding. Of course they will eventually make stiffer gun control laws, just like they have made free speech a thing of the past. It is not if it is when but thats how it is, not a big deal. There are hundreds of new laws passed every year and most people aren't aware of the new laws. Just saying.

If you want to believe that, that's your prerrogative. I'm telling the truth. I know it, anyone that knows someone who's recieved one of these knows it, and anyone that's willing to actually learn something instead of just taking the spoonfed propaganda this administration is dishing out knows it as well. I've misrepresented nothing. Bash me if you want. It doesn't matter.

We are talking about the spoonfed propaganda the right wing dishes out and that you repeat on here. Here are links to pictures of the actual letters you have mis-represented.

You said above the letter said may be judged incompetent and in the next sentence you said they were incompetent. Make up your mind if you are not making this up.

The first sentence indicates this is something sent only to DISABLED Veterans. This looks like MoKidd22's big fat lie #1.
