I was driving through Huffman the other day when I took witness to a most peculiar sight. I saw a man, aged 50 or so, shirtless and homely as sin, hunched over outside and vomitting on a cat's back. The cat honestly didn't seem to mind.

But one thing made this horrific scene move immediately to the back burner. A young woman wearing a tweety bird shirt, tight yoga pants, a shaved head and smoking a hand-rolled cigarette came trodding across the street when she reached into said tight yoga pants, extracted a wad of toilet paper, sniffed it and threw it in the street.

WTF is wrong with people!?? OMG - I lost all hope in humanity during that hellish trip through Huffman. I lived to tell my story.

Thanks for reading.

Do people really live in some of those trailers? Windows broken, not level, trash, single wides. Makes me count my lucky stars for having a double wide.

I just do not know why he would puke on the cat. That is silly. I really hope for the sake of Rolla you made this up...and if not then we need to do something about this. We need to get rid of this eyesore trailer park. I would not let my dog live there. Do people have their children living there? This is sad to think this is the only place they can afford to live. God help these people. Just pray for these people.

I hear you. I portray this story in a humorous light, but sadly, this truly happened. I did witness several (unattended mind you) kids in the trailer community. One of which was playing with a toy gun (that looked awfully real from a distance). I agree completely, this shouldn't be happening - not here in Rolla. But what can we do about it? I wish there was some way to help

Yeah nothing we can really do about it. Im sorry that you had to witness this. Just pray for these children is all we can really do. Or report them to someoen but chances are nothing would come of it. So, I say let God take care of it.

I've never been to the Huffman trailer park. I've driven past the one just north of 72 on Pine Tree/Forum and it looks horrible. Actually, I thought that's what this post was talking about. But apparently Huffman is somewhere else.

No, you're right. There's actually a little road that runs THROUGH it. The back side does face 72 and Pinetree tho. If you ever drove through it, you'd see it is quite horrible. Many years ago it was decent but now there is no hope. It seriously should be condemned or something.

The really sad part is not all the people living there are bad, it's all they can afford to have a roof over their heads.Don't be so quick to judge. You are the lucky ones to have a choice where you're living.

well, sorry but i dont feel bad for people with children that live there. If you have children you should have all the motivation you need to make a little more each month and live somewhere better. even the farrar apartments are much better than that place. the only reason to live there is to be close to your dealer. for the old people that live there and have no money, you can live somewhere else too, a nursing home. trailer parks all together should be outlawed. you should only be able to buy a trailer if you have land to put it on. or if people want to buy them and rent them out, there should be a reasonable amount of space between them and regulations for maintainance. The whole idea of a trailer park is disgusting, no kids should grow up like that.

the whole trailer park is actually for sale. Theres a big sign up front that says so. Floyd huffman tried and tried to sell off part of it before he died to make some sort of retail center or some sht. I think they outta sell it to Target and build one there. screw the skanks livin there. lettem move over on farrar or go back to newburg

The city would not zone if for commercial property for years. So it was left as a trailer park, because of the residential zoning.

Woodcrest is even worse. It is like a pit of hell. Rolla would be a lot better off if they were just wiped off the map...yuck.

No point to urge this issue any farther. You can all play judge, jury as well as God. Hope it never bites your ass

If people don't have a lot of money that's fine, it happens. Just because they don't have money it doesn't mean they have to live like trash. Keep the place clean, keep the yard clean, and upkeep the trailers. Keep your kids clean and don't let them act and run around like trash. It's ridiculous. But there should be no trailer parks allowed in city limits. Keep the town looking nice.

Amen! There's a difference between having little money and being a SKANK. You don't have to live like trash! It's disgusting and these people give Rolla a horrible name. Anything to clean up the city I'm all for.
