If the county gave up their easement, then they can if you have to drive across their property to cross.

The paper was talking about just a nominal charge for neighbors. I can see how they would want to prevent liability problems with others. There isn't good access to the creek and the bridge is unstable and dangerous.

You're an idiot. You must be some city person that just moved here or you are part of that tree hugging hippie Meyers family. That bridge has been there for a long ass time and is still holding up very strong. No good creek access? Are you freakin kidding me? I grew up swimming in that river (sorry I mean creek) and it had a great access. You could pull right off of the bridge and be right next to the water. We would have several vehicles parked there at once. It was always great fishing and great swimming. Then those bastards took it away. No wonder kids go out causing trouble and doing drugs. They have no place to go to have fun without getting ran off!!!! I feel sorry for my children with the world they are having to grow up in.

I'm not from Newburg. I just used to go there a lot to swim and fish. When you live in this part of the country that's what people do. We enjoy the outdoors. We don't sit around on our ass playing video games and complaining because the satellite stopped working. Let us enjoy our country life and people like you can move back to the city.

You're not upset about it because you're too busy sitting in your moms basement wacking it to gay porn. Someone like you wouldn't go near the river because you're afraid some of these country boys are gonna whoop your ass for running your mouth. My suggestion, move back to the city.

Yeah, you could pull right off the road and onto the Myers property... which they graciously allowed people to do for years until ingrates like you trashed it-- left it piled up with broken bottles, dirty diapers, used syringes etc. Country Boy if you don't like the way things are playing out, why don't you buy the grotto bridge property and swim, party and fish as you wish? I'm sure you'd be willing to share it with one and all, too./s

Graciously allowed? It's the damn river!!!! I understand not letting people walk away from the river bank and wonder around the property, but I don't believe the river access should be owned and that's what it is is an access. People have been going there enjoying themselves since way before any of us were born. As far as trashing the place? I never did that. I always helped pick up trash when I would go down there. There's not really anything you can do about that unless it's constantly monitored and that can sometimes be too much trouble. People always throw a fit and ban people from coming to places like that because of the trash, but just because a few dumb asses that have no respect for the land trash the place doesn't mean we should all be ran off. Trash is everywhere. We can't control the idiots. I have found trash, needles, and broken glass in the parks in Rolla many times. Do they shut down the parks and tell everyone to go away? No. You could at least try and get a few people together and have them monitor the place and keep the trash picked up in return for opening back up the bridge. Why haven't they tried that? There are actually several people out there that would be interested in that.

It's ok to let people to cross their property if they pay a fee, and keep people from enjoying the river because it's private. Hmmm Just wondering how can they take money from people to go on float trips from milldam hollow through other private property to. I'd bet the other property owners have no clue they are charging people to float the river that runs through their property. Nothing but money hungry Hippocrates.

Phelps County abandoned their easement to the creek. They can refuse you from crossing their private property. Nothing is keeping you from floating to the bridge and swimming and fishing. You should have went to the county commission meetings four years ago and voiced your opinion there.

We did go even with a petition to keep the road open. We don't have the money to persuade decisions like they do. Try and float through there or fish etc you will be ran off or harrassed.

Yes I see them taking vans of people on PAID float trips. How come they can charge to float on other people private property. I pulled a canoe up near the bridge after a float trip and they ran me off said I was trespassing

You can be in the creek. You can't leave the creek.

Delcour was a name in the landmark creek-trespassing case. The regs are on the web.
