I just moved to the Rolla area from Monett, MO and I'm looking for a affordable home. I looked at a couple of houses in Newburg, but not sure of the place. Didn't seem like much of a town but seemed quite. Ive heard some bad things about the place though and would like to know if buying a house and raising my 2 daughters there would be a good choice.

Newburg is a great place to live. Everyone says it's a drug town, but it's not. There were a few people there that had a drug problem in the past, but they're long gone. The people there are very nice and always help each other. They don't have a lot to offer but they do have a bar that is very laid back. I've never known of any fights that have happened at that bar. They have a lot of police too that are always there. The people there will be glad to welcome you to their town. And the women there are hot!!!

I've got a full time job and do well. I'd just like to have a place I can call my own in a quite town. I'm tired of renting crappy apartments with neighbors that have no respect. I normally move a lot because of my job, but I'm gonna be living in this area permanent now.

I would reccomend finding a place outside of Newburg. The town really doesn't have a lot going for it in the business aspect. The housing is affordable but only because most of the homes are fix r uppers, but that depends on your budget and what you want to do there. There are a few churches in town wich are usually crowded come Sunday morning. I personally know a lot of people who live there and generally speaking they are very good people who would give the shirts off of their back if you needed it. On the other hand there are a few who who get in some trouble with drugs and such things, just like every town. The school is a great place for your daughters to go. They have small classes and the best administrators and teaching staff . Many students have gone to college and do well for themselves. All in all it's not a bad place to live.

Newburg is full of nothing but skanks and drug addicts. Sure there are a FEW good people there, but just a few. The others do nothing but sell dope and spread hep c all over the town. Little Larry Birdsong jr is the worst. He's a dope head that goes around town stealing things out of peoples cars and spreading his hep c he got from sleeping with other men.

If you are looking at places in Newburg, go knock on some doors and meet some neighbors first. Ask some old retired people if the neighborhood is quiet.

This would be the case in Rolla or StJames too. One bad neighbor can make everyone miserable.

I'd look into St James instead of Newburg.

Newburg is a quiet little town, filled with a lot of very good people! Its only downfall is the lack of businesses, but it's not that far to Rolla. The poolhall/bar has been owned by the same man for years, and is a nice safe place to go.

It sounds like you got in with the wrong crowd. There are very few people in Newburg like Larry Birdsong. He's just the scum of the earth that every town has. Most Newburg people are honest and hard working, or retired. I'd venture to say several of them are worth more money than you'll ever see.

I wouldnt recommend Newburg to live in. Not too much is going on there for a life. Doolittle is a nicer area and closer to the highway. If not Doolittle move on down the high way closer to Rolla or St. James

If you decide to move to Newburg..make friends with the older folks there. They are wonderful..

Otherwise, just mind your business and always have a loaded weapon.

There r Domingo druggys still around Newburg so u definitely want to lock up and don't leave valuables in sight just incase. I've there since the early 90s and haven't had any issues but the elect is kinda high. The school is great bc it's small and every1 is nice. Every1 talks bout all the bad ppl down there but there's ppl like that everywhere Newburg is just small so u hear bout them more, but what's good bout Newburg is 90% of the bad ppl move to rolla so it's not bad at all now u just have to look at trashy houses everywhere. It would b a great town w a lil elbow grease

I completely agree with you. Newburg is full of good, kind people. And if you want a beer, there's no better place to go than Perry's...quiet, no b/s atmosphere.
