I want to get a CCW, but I prefer open. I like to have it within reach in the event that I need it and for potential threats to know that I have it. As far as the old lady line goes, I haven't scared any that I know of.

I have CCW but see nothing wrong with open carry. Wouldn't bother me at all.

Lets get more guns open or concealed down at the Mexican border and fight a "war on terror" against the enemy that has murdered ten times more Americans than have died in the middle east.(50,000 in the last ten years)

I support right to carry.
I have seen many walkers or maybe they were tweekers and "I have a Cummins Diesel" big heads.
You never know when you will need your hog leg, may as well have it close.

I guess the days of large public gatherings is coming to a close. I don't think I will miss it. Don't need theaters or stadiums or parades, restaurants or WalMarts.

As long as a big crowd has 30-40 gun nuts packing you can count on any kind of trouble turning deadly.

Everyone should just hole up in a cabin and play on their internet.

Good bye, civilization. Last one out turn out the lights.

I can see how you would think that way, Sue. Lately they've tried to demonize everything from guns to Republicans to the 1st Amendment in an effort to scare people into following the status quo. In truth, however, us CCWs and carriers have protected far more people than the media would like you to know. Personally, I would rather be in the crowd you describe than in any crowd in some major city. I know that if there had been a couple, or even one, of us in Aurora, or in Tucson, or in Sandy Hook, that the outcome would have been much, much different. Far fewer innocents would have died and the shooter(s) would have been dead or wounded into stopping. You can hate us all you want, but you can't argue with the stats that show guns in fact save more lives than they ever take. I could quote them to you, but that would just take too long and I doubt you would listen.
Well

Actually, here in Missouri we're an open carry state as well as a concealed carry state. A permit is required to carry concealed, but if the gun is worn openly on the hip and in plain view there is nothing the police can say or do. I've been stopepd and talked to a couple times and they always walk away pissed because I apparently know more about the law than they do. lol

Actually my opinion is based on my personal observation and experience with people around this town. I think of some of the old auxiliary cop wannabes and how they accessorize their wardrobes with scanner radios and cop shoes. How cool they would look with a nice black Taurus all holstered up, cutting a movie-star profile as they swagger around Pine Street. Always alert for a wreck they may photograph so they can sell the picture to the RDN.

As far as you changing the outcome in the theater in Colorado, your statement is just so much horse hockey.

I am able to think for myself and take little stock in media propaganda, thank you very much. I really don't care for your tone and I really don't think you have the insight or the station to be talking down to me.

So go and scold and lecture from your anonymous keyboard. I will continue to believe that proponents of open carry have personality disorders based in their feelings of inadequacy.

If I have offended you, that was not my intention and I apologize. Nor was I trying to "talk down" to anyone. I have had this conversation with others who tried to preach to me that guns are evil and all that, so I thought I would stop that line of talk while I could. I see now that you are one of the rare breed of actually informed people that are so scarce these days. I do agree with you about some of the cop wannabes walking around town. I've seen them myself and I have the same opinion. I carry mine because I know that someday there might be a need for it and am genuinely concerned with my own wellbeing and that of others. I don't mean to insult or inflame, but I do like a spirited debate. As far as being anonymous, just ask and we can talk like civilized people.

Utter BS.
Phelps county alone came in with 1424 ccw permitholders at the end of last year. The surrounding counties hold comparable numbers who also visit, shop, and dine in the Rolla area. Missouri recognizes out of state permits also and there could be any number of those citizens around as well.
The "blood in the streets" premontions have not come true in the last going on 9 years, since Missouri has had a concealed carry law. Why should ANYONE believe they will come true now since you have declared so now.
But feel free to go hole up in that cabin if you wish. It will not hurt my feelings.

I have open carried all over Rolla. Walmart, restaurants, convenience stores, Family Center, MFA, ect. Never had a MWAG call.
Matter of fact 2 weeks ago an on duty officer walked up and shook hands with my son and I and told us "I appreciate what you do, I wish more people took their own safety as serious as you guys do."
I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but it is more out of the ordinary than normal.

Not exactly correct in every sense of the word.
Yes, while Missouri is an open carry legal state. In 1984 our (sarcasm starts here>) benevolant legislature gave us MRSO 21.750.

Firearms legislation preemption by general assembly, exceptions--limitation on civil recovery against firearms or ammunitions manufacturers, when, exception.
21.750. 1. The general assembly hereby occupies and preempts the entire field of legislation touching in any way firearms, components, ammunition and supplies to the complete exclusion of any order, ordinance or regulation by any political subdivision of this state. Any existing or future orders, ordinances or regulations in this field are hereby and shall be null and void except as provided in subsection 3 of this section.

2. No county, city, town, village, municipality, or other political subdivision of this state shall adopt any order, ordinance or regulation concerning in any way the sale, purchase, purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, keeping, possession, bearing, transportation, licensing, permit, registration, taxation other than sales and compensating use taxes or other controls on firearms, components, ammunition, and supplies except as provided in subsection 3 of this section.

3. Nothing contained in this section shall prohibit any ordinance of any political subdivision which conforms exactly with any of the provisions of sections 571.010 to 571.070, with appropriate penalty provisions, or which regulates the open carrying of firearms readily capable of lethal use or the discharge of firearms within a jurisdiction, provided such ordinance complies with the provisions of section 252.243.

So, while open carry is legal in the state of Missouri according to state law. And Rolla, as they have no local ordinance against OC.(This is going to be confusing to some.) To say it is legal in every city or every municipality is FALSE. Missouri does not have a preemption when it comes to OC. MEANING any/every/or none can make ordinances against it. DO NOT TRY IT IN ST. LOUIS. You will be visiting the barred motel. And a person just never knows what local ordinances have passed in the last city aldermans meeting. One should be very diligent about keeping up with the local laws if they are going to OC.

With all due respect, I'm not trying to bust your chops. I would justy hate for someone to go to jail for not having all the facts.

Mine says Steelville, but I am no where near that town. Randomly it will say Columbia Missouri. Just bc it's posted there doesn't mean it is.
