I read more about what's going on in our community on facebook than i do in the RDN ... RDN is really slacking on keeping us informed on what goes on ...
For some funny calls just read the RPD page on facebook. Some are hilarious!

Like this one...

Rolla Police Department Officers responded to the 1300 block of N. Oak St. for a report of a missing person. A male stated that his girlfriend went on a date with her other boyfriend that she met on the internet. He stated he was concerned because she hadnt returned home and it had been several hours. We located her and she called him.

How are they wasting money when they do it from work?
They are keeping the community informed of what is happening.
There will be no repercussions because it's public information.
Or ...
Was this YOU calling and wasting tax payers money because your gf was out with her other bf?

It is a waste of taxpayers money to have city employees wasting their time at work on facebook. It is not designed to inform the public, rather it is designed to try and give kudos to their fellow officers!! It is a shame!! Yet another way to waste money by the GREAT city of Rolla!!!

I rode along with RPD one night. Some of the officers have Iphones and just type a quick message on facebook when they finish the call. It is to keep you informed. Yeah there is humor but that keeps it real and keeps everyone looking at the page. Then when there is a real incident you are informed. Saad,,,,, why complain? Why not volunteer to help with their Civilian Police Corps instead of complaining on a msg board? You have time to complain under a fake name. Why dont you volunteer to help clean up the community and since you know how to post web based messages, volunteer to help RPD with their Facebook?

I really appreciate knowing where the crime 'hotspots' are around town. I think the few minutes here and there officers spend updating the page are well worth it. With heroin and meth tearing through our community, it's good to know what's happening day to day.

The 'hotspots' around Roll-a-misery are "everywhere". We sure don't need a facebook page to tell us that.
