Accident On Ulysses Highway Kills Child

The Grant County Sheriff's Department responded to an accident on Highway 25 in Ulysses around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

I just want the family to know that my thoughts and prayers are with them and also with the truck driver. It is a sad thing when you loose a child but to loose one so tragically is even harder.

This is uncalled for and completely inappropriate, mommy of five. These are lovely people, who love their children very much and are devistated by this. How can you be so cruel and cold? What do you lose by being compassionate and caring? This sort of accusation benefits no one....unless it makes you feel superior in some pathetic way. Look in your heart for some mercy and grace. And please don't use the excuse that you are trying to protect children by stomping on these people...you aren't protecting anyone. I am just appalled at what you said.

Also I was wondering the same thing, where was the parents? How did this child get by the highway? Why was he allowed to be out there by himself? This is a very sad thing and I am not try to be mean in anyway at all, but I am sure everyone is asking the same quetions in their minds even if they are scared to ask on here.

gurra this is defently one of those cases where if the parents were watching there kids closely this might have never happened(yes im agreeing with you for once). we all asked the same question last night at a family gathering, where were his parents and why was he out in the dark??? yes its a very hard situation, god help his family.. it is always a tragic situation when a family looses a child especially at such a young age.

Scared??No its called respect for the other persons life, an unconditional respect. I dont need to know what happened and its none of my business. My sympathy goes far deeper then what I could feel if all the details where out there for everyone to know. I know all I need to know when one of the posters said they were, are good loving parents. They are undoubtly going through the ultimate pain that life has to dole out. Thats all any of us need to know. I cant believe there is nothing sacred to some. We can not go beyond that place in life that belongs to another. Just pray for the family, thats all they need from us, that and the knowledge that perfect strangers are there for them. Nita

the mother is the lady that used to work at the ciggarette outlet right? every time she was working she had her kids in their so I am sure she watched out for them more than most people do.

His mother is an excellent mother. We are all so busy in our lives. We are constantly on the go and there never seems to be enough time in a day to do everything we think we need to. Anyone with children knows that one minute they can be right there and the next minute they are gone. Ask anyone whose child has been abducted. They only turned around for a minute. Unfortunately a minute is all it takes for a tragedy to strike.

please get over yourelf you know and I know that when all this came out almost all of you were asking people what happened and the same questions came up about the parents and that is natural reaction so stop acting like it didn't matter cause it does that how humans are.

I want to make it clear I have not said nothing bad about these people. I know they are gong through hell I can't even imagine what they are thinking right know and I am not blaming them I just asked a few questions. I am sure you have asked people the same ones when you hear about it.
You might think i am heartless but i feel bad for them and the truck driver. I started crying when I read the the paper and it was on there. Last week a kid i grew up with was killed in TX in a wreck then the same day Ethen died a girl from here was killed in a wreck like 5 hrs before and then 40 mins after the wreck in ulysses a guy was on a bicycle in Garden and was hit and killed. So you know there are many unaswered question in all these wrecks and people are asking why....

Please tell me how I was so rude? Just cause I said that the questions are there? I didn't say nothing wrong..
