It wasn't that many years ago their advertising logo was "Made In The U.S.A"

The so called "Economic Stimulus Package" of $600. per individual will largely be spent at Walmart ...and consequently the economy it will stimulate the most will be China's.

Did anybody see on the news a few weeks back about the Chinese who are now shopping for toys made in the US, so that there's no lead in them? They're even willing to pay the premium for their kid's safety.

It's like that all over, no matter what state you're in.

My question is: why does the Rogersville Wal-Mart have such a crappy selection, when the ones in Morristown and Greeneville have not only a better selection, but in some instances, cheaper pricing?

There is a trickle down effect in retail. The same reason there is less selection at the Rogersville Wal-Mart is the same reason there isn't as much selection in Kingsport's Belk (previously Profit's) compared with say Knoxville. The places trucks stop first is gonna get the best selection.
My honest opinion is they (Rogersville Wal-Mart) is selling what they get as left overs from "bigger" stores. This is suprising in a way because I have heard that the Rogersville Wal-Mart is consistantly breaking sales records and that would lead one to believe that they might get more selection. However I may be very misinformed.
I have also seen a difference in price. It's odd that I have found better prices in Kingsport (where the price of living is higher) than in Rogersville. I'm sure it may be the exact opposite in other cases, but I haven't seen it. Again, my guess is that it has a lot to do with supply and demand for that specific area. I know that each Wal-Mart probably has the liberty to price items the way they feel it's appropriate. If people are willing to pay 20 dollars for a cd player when it's 15 in Kingsport then who's to say that Wal-Mart shouldn't sell it for that price.

Rogersville Walmart in fact does only operate off of over stock from other stores. The reason that the prices differ is due to the # of people in that county. The smaller your city the higher the price based on large retailers. search it out and you'll find the facts behind what is actual retail price and what isn't.

I have recently been all three of those walmarts and the selection in no better in Kingsport, Morristown or Greeneville than in Rogersville. It may be bigger but the last time i checked those three towns are a bit bigger than RogVegas. I actually felt Rogersville's walmart was actually better for what i was looking for. Then again, this arguement might go either way at anytime just depending on what you are pesonally looking for.

I disagree. Morristown Walmart has a much wider selection than Rogersville, especially in the grocery section. The Morristown one carries a wider selection of brands and more availability within those brands. There are several items that I buy that you cannot find in Rogersville, which is why I choose to go to Morristown usually. Since I live near Mooresburg, this is not a problem.

I work at the Wal-Mart DC in Midway and while your explanation for the price difference is most likely correct(I don't know for sure about the retail pricing end) your statement about the Rogersville Wal-Mart operating from "Overstock" I know for a fact is completely wrong.
We service around 100 stores from the DC and once anything leaves the warehouse for a store it NEVER returns to the distribution system. The store has to sell it then or keep discounting it till it does. As I said...nothing ever re-enters the distribution system once it leaves. There is enough chaos going on having to unload , warehouse and ship the stuff from up to 325 unloaded trailers per day without having unsold crap coming back from 100 different stores!

in rogersvilles case of higher pricing its because they can. there is hardly any compitition for walmart here. so products have to sell and the better they sell the higher they price them. as for what actually comes in i dont know how its determined what we sell exept for the computer calculates what we will nedd and it comes in. still i agree its crappy

this is got to do with the sales for the area....they are like a 155,000 sq ft store and the others are like 200,000+. If you have complaints about the store then you should contact Brenda Frazier (store manager) trust me she will address your concerns
