I don't know what the petition says, but I'm in favor of having a "shelter" that takes what little money they get from the county and just putting every critter to sleep as soon as it comes through the door. That would be a much better use of tax money than the waste of keeping them alive for "adoption."

The petition is to get rid of the current board and current workers at the Humane Society. Lot of underhanded things going on. Very profitable for the President and workers. I have donated food an money to them and never been given a receipt. Animals being killed and bodies sold for research. Needs to be cleaned up and a group of folks that truly love animals needs to take over.

Of course they're not scooping shit out of kennels or helping clean litter boxes, that would take EFFORT.Don't you know that this day and time all it takes to cause a fuss is having a computer and loving DRAMA.I think it's pretty damn sad that they have a whole bunch of followers in this so called "saving of the animals" yet we hardly ever see new faces willing to HELP.If the lot of them would come HELP then these babies wouldn't be in kennels and cages all day now would they?Pretty sad indeed. In the end our animals are going to pay the price for this ridiculousness.

I plan to do some volunteering so I can see the problems first hand!! I also won't allow ANY abuse to ANY animal in my presense. Animals share and express feelings the same as we do. They all deserve to go to a loving home. I will do my best to help place these sweet babies find a furever home!! I know a few individual people who share my thoughts will volunteer the same day. What days and hour will you be open next week??
Is there anayone who would like to go with me??

Hawkins Humane doesn't have enough money for anybody to be getting rich. McNally shouldn't be on the board because he is thought to have run a puppy mill. On the other hand, HH cannot be no kill. They don't have the funds to be. It has been going well, and I regret all this mess has been created. It will only hurt the animals in the long run. The people who are unhappy need to start their own shelter and run it the way they want.

No...that's what we pay taxes for. To have someone take care of the problem.

Well I have volunteered at the shelter, I have seen and reported what I have seen to the board and nothing was done !
They have $18,000. in their checking account as of 2 weeks ago.
As for Mr. President is also the treasurer and has a balance over $6,000 on the credit card ?
They are trying to make things better for the animals so do not confuse there motives .
If you watched a dog come in and it was very healthy and it slowly weathered away over a 8 or 9 month period and finally died from worms does that sound like the dog was taken care of ? No it does not the board was told on many occasions the dog needed to be taken to the vet. but they would not approve it to be taken.
I could go on and on but I think I have made my point !

If it wasn't taken to a vet then how do you know it died of worms?Furthermore, you "watching" it die slowly over a 8 or 9 month period is SAD on your part.Dewormer is NOT that expensive. Why did you not take the dog to the vet?As a person speaking that gives a damn.Everyone wants to point their finger and say what they "saw" did YOU YOURSELF step in and do ANYTHING?
So SAD

This whole controversy was manufactured by a couple of trouble makers whose family members are running for county commission next year and want to discredit Danny Alvis. I'm not sticking up for Danny, because he has his faults, but the people who work at that humane society put their hearts and souls into that low paying job and they don't deserve to be dragged through the mud by a couple of terds trying to make a name for themselves in an election year.

These 'terds', as you call them have documentation for every allegation that they have made. These are smart folks, who know better than to make allegations without proof. Obviously Danny Alvis has a problem and is running scared if he had the locks changed to keep the meeting from happening at the Humane Society building. What didn't he want the public to see? Now he has hired a law firm to send a letter to a lady accusing her of slander. Slander is words spoken that cannot be proven. Hopefully all this will be taken care of at the January meeting.

It's was a violation of the sunshine law to have a meeting. Plus they was told dec 13 they would be no meeting and all also had a fund raiser the same night

All these so-called "violations" arise around the same time the Houewrights pick up petitions to run for county commission. What a coincidence. I reviewed your complaints. Much ado about nothing. In other words, just a bunch of overblown crap. Why don't you take your complaints to law enforcement, state comptroller, county commission, or city councils that contribute funds to the humane society. They'd laugh you out of town. That's why.

The county should bring in coyote's. Problem solved by nature. Humans created this problem let the coyote's clean it up. Taxpayers for coyote's rise up and VOTE! Republican of course!
