Nice editing Rogersville Review. I guess the proof-reading process was one you decided to skip this go around huh? Page 11A, Title,"There's no since in piling things up." There is also no "sense" in publishing something without looking at it first.

Hear, hear. And then Hawkins Today had an event on the front page taking place on "March 32nd." Does anyone check these papers BEFORE the are printed?

The old days when papers were proofed by sweet little old ladies were so much better than the present days of spellcheck.

To be honest, it's been years since I saw a review that wasn't riddled with spelling and grammar errors and appeared to have been prepared under the direction of an editor with a second grade education, or who was possibly developmentally disabled.

I assure you the errors you have noticed are not unusual for this publication.

Lay off the guys. They do the best they can. Is that ass Lindsey still the publisher? If you had to work for him you'd understand....

You do realize, don't you, that March 32 is April Fools Day?

Spell check is useless because there are too many mistakes that it does not catch. They need to just take the extra time to read over these articles to make sure they are correct. It is embarassing to think that people visiting from out of state will come to town and read our paper. This only ensures that the stereotype of illiterate southerners lives on.

The problem, sadly, is not just local newspapers. Has anybody seen a County Commission agenda or been to a government meeting? What you see and hear will make you cry. Ignorance is not just a stereotype.
