On Hwy 11, going towards Morristown there is a haunted house. I have seen alot of crazy things there, including a couple of apparitions. You will turn in front of Lakeview Grocery to go to the Old 11W. When You get to top of hill you will be facing the old Shady Lane Motel (in process of being tore down). As you go left you will see a large brick house on left next to where motel was. See if you can see the girl on the staircase!

The Rogersville Review published a book last year around Halloween that lists the supposed haunted places in the area. You might want to check this out.

just wanted everyone to know what i found out from my mom and grandmother. i spoke with my mom and grandmother about this, they know of 3 supposed haunted places in the surgoinsville area. don't worry, i will email you a copy of this, i just wanted other people to see this and maybe add more details. maybe it will jog some memories. my grandmother also told me that she would try to think about some more stories concerning the places and try to relay them to me tomorrow. my grandmother grew up within walking distances of two of the three haunted places. 1. Oakdale church cemetary on carter's valley road. She told me that at night, she would see beings dressed in solid white walking around the cemetary and suddenly vanish into thin air. 2. Maxwell academy on stoney point road. My grandmother attended this school as a child. She had to go and get buckets of water from the spring and there would be unexplained wads of hair in their buckets. Her father drove a milk truck by there on a regular basis. he would often see an angelic figure on top of the school and near the railroad tracks. 3. Presbyterian Church of Surgoinsville, across from the Maxwell academy. Mom told me that there would be horrendous storms with trees down all around the area of the church, would go look around the cemetary and not a limb on the ground, nothing disturbed. many people saw the church completely lit up with beautiful music and singing coming from there, they would go to look in, open the door, the music and singing would cease. on one occasion my great grandfather went to investigate the music and singing, looked in a window and saw a woman dressed in a robe with a hood covering her face looking down. all of a sudden she vanished into thin air. One night on his way home from the milk route, he was stopped by a big animal that he had never saw before standing in the middle of the road. the creature had big bright yellow blaring eyes. it would not move, he had to wait for it to move, much to his surprise, it did not walk away, it also vanished into thin air. Like i mentioned earlier, my grandmother lived near both of these two places, if you don't know the area, the Maxwell academy is right across the road from the Presbyterian church. There was a bridge of some sort behind her house and late at night the sounds of horses and buggies going across the bridge would wake them and keep them awake. i hope this is helpful, she is going to try to think of more.

wow! went looking for ghosts just today!! I know of a couple of old houses and one barn over on clinch that are really haunted. My friend and I drove over today and took some pictures and one video, and we got some "evidence", or at least some really interesting film and pics!

but these locations are considered Hancock co.
I also know of a house near me in pressman's home that has been investigated, and also a house near the hamblen co. line that is haunted!

Oh, yeah-Pressmen's Home is like Spook Central here. I told y'all about the Thing I saw in the field at the far end-And how I KNEW I was being "watched" the whole time I went into the Trade School-alone-in '91...Seems like about half the times I've been thru PH, I've had a vague feeling of dread/sadness/Something Just Ain't Right...Would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

I heard one of the rooms at the holiday inn express is haunted. But it always seems like hotels are surrounded with weird things.
