You have swayed me, morally if no services were rendered, then at least a partial refund would seem in order. However, same situation as above, if you lost a sale on the car while holding it, then you would have suffered a loss.

Better be careful. He might try and get you for slander or something!

How so? In order for it to be considered libel or slander it would have to be untrue and Every single thing that I have said regarding Mr Skelton is true and I have documentation and phone records backing it all up.

I wont go into details ,but I would not recommend using Skelton to catch a dog . I used him for my bankruptsy and I have regreted it ever since. Even 8 years later I am finding out things he was suppose to have taken care of and didn't and it has messed up things greatly . Beware is all I can say !

Yes, I have heard several stories like this in person from others and I guess it is a good thing I didn't pay him in full and go through with my filing through Mr. Skelton. I would still like to get a detailed billing statement or my money back from him but as of today nothing....

Thanks to Mark our bills are paid and we have a roof over our head, things we did not have before Mr. Skelton came through with my husbands disability after he went legally blind. Thanks again Mark.

Well, I think Mr. Skelton is a great attorney. He works with you every way he can. I'm just speaking from our experience with him. Everyone there, even in the office have been very nice to our family. I'm very sorry your having hardship & all, but why wouldn't you just put it on hold until you could pay the rest if you don't mind me asking? Again, I am truly sorry your having financial problems. I can definitely relate to that very well. I will keep you up in my prayers.

Yes, I agree...His office staff is very nice and professional and I have nothing whatsoever against them at all.
The reason I did not put it on hold was that I was in dire need of the cash I had already paid to pay the electrical bill at the time. He had said that until ALL money had been paid that he did not officially represent me and that no work would be done on the case till then which is why I thought he might give the money back since NO work whatsoever had been done. Had he givin it back I would have later saved the total up,paid him the full amount and gone ahead with the filing later on. The letter he sent the next day telling me that he intended to keep the money also said that it would remain on credit for later on but frankly after what he pulled I wouldn't use him to help me register a dog in the future and would discourage anyone else that I come into contact with to having anything to do with him also....

Thank you for your prayers...
Brian

Of course he worked hard on your husbands disability case. In SS disability cases a lawyer doesn't get a cent unless he wins the case for the client and he then gets a percentage of the first pro rated payment to the person who is getting disability. It looks like in what is being discussed here he just took the guys money without doing a thing for him.

I just got through asking about a refund of fees although not as much. I went with a different attorney for $800 less and am very pleased with the results.
I thought he was gonna choke when i told him that I had already filed. He told me the first time i saw him about the pymt plan and that he would do NOTHING until paid in full. He advertises free consults so I should have gotten a refund. He is a pompous person with a very high opinion of himself. Too bad everyone else doesn't share in that opinion.

I think someone should pay him enough to get some Christmas spirit. The office looks so bare with out any decorations. Is he a scrounge or something. Just saying that maybe they could dress up the place.IMHO

Yes it's worth reposting. There are dirty lawyers, dirty judges, dirty cops, etc. I'm all for sharing your opinion on anything to do with someone ripping another off. I had a smartass for an attorney when I filed bankruptcy and I'll never use him again. Also i've heard others complain about Mark Skeleton. A forum is for sharing views and opinions, deal with it.

Ken, did you sign something that stated no work until all fees paid? You express yourself well. Here is a link to the Board of Professional Responsibility for lawyers in TN. http://www.tbpr.org/ It might help you to file a letter of grievance with them concerning this matter. Also if there are other people who believe they have been wronged by the lawyer in question then they too should file. Keep what you say true and to the point. And for the record I think you deserve a full refund.

should have known better than to ever consider using him anyway. Not a very good lawyer or would never ne a bankruptcy lawyer. Anyone that would represent bankruptcy clients are scrapping the barrell for work, and to finance them makes them worse.

You're right. He's probably lost a lot of business because of his pathetic attitude.

For the people that are posting in regards to Skelton, they are doing you a favor and warning you just to beware. Just beware if you hire him. If you need an attorney, call the TN Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service. You can find their information at tba.org
In your best interest, do not use Skelton

Do you not realize that Mark got a percentage of your settlement. If I knew that I was going to get a big portion of someone's backpay I would fight tooth and nail to win their case. Why are you thanking him, he should be thanking you. In a case like yours, you are doing him a favor by allowing him to handle your case. Lawyers are given too much credit for what little they do. I've had shitty lawyers. Will definitely not use any local lawyers ever again.
