The only thing worse than being a sitting duck is being a sitting duck in front of a corrupt, favor-dispensing local government.

But then again, you Rogersville taxpayers are lucky that Bass Pro Shops never came to town, as they would have gotten an abatement for all of it (not just one third), and other people's tax dollars (your money) would have actually paid for constructing the building. All to procure a handful of minimum wage jobs. That good ole boy Capitalism in Ahmurica.

This information is in this Friday's Rogersville Review so go out and buy it. All the people in this town needs to go to the meeting on Monday Sept. 24 at 7:00pm at the bus shop to protest it. I am going what about you all? I will be there!! There is a lot that needs to come out at that the meeting. We need to demand that the commisioner's resign. Get the crooks out then this town could start getting better. This is the first place to start to rebuild our town.

This week's Rogersville Review, it's on the front page.
How come Roger Stewart can get a reduction and everybody else in Hawkins County don't get one too? He knew before he bought IPC that he would have many problems. Our County commissioners had better not lower his back taxes unless they lower mine too!!!!

it is impossible to get info...hats off to the review on this one...even a good article on editorial page about it. i first thought it was w back taxes but he never has paid any year..also some one said he had sold nearly a million dollars in scrap off the properety. a few yrs ago the city gave ipc a tax differment of 100k wonder if that got that back at the auction? and if he did not pay county taxes what did he do on the city taxes? did they just give them a free pass?

Our brilliant and efficient city officials didn't ask for or receive one dime of the money they had loaned IPC. As far as Stewart goes, he is an @$$ but you can't get blood out of a turnip. He has no money left, unless he has hidden it. A lot of the trouble at Citizens Bank is because of unsecured loans to him

Let Roger be. He just is trying to take a shortcut on his taxes. He has already proved on the highway that he's willing to risk anything to take a shortcut.

Jim point is Rogers attorney and the tax attorney......county and city will push to lower taxes because if they get it back they don't want it. Anybody else the tax attorney should have. Already started a sale for the taxes.

Just add in some weirdo religion and magic underwear, and this describes Romney.

Thank god so many of you have your bearings and profess to vote for him.

In this country it is the top 50% of all Americans that are paying all the taxes, they are the ones providing all the services, they are the ones subsidizing everything and everyone. Do you know who these top 50% are? The people who created your job, that's who. Not only do they give you a job and a paycheck, now you want them to subsidize education for your 10 children, pay for your food and housing, your healthcare, your retirement? Pay you not to work, what else? The top 50% are the ones who are paying all the bills, they are paying all your bills, meanwhile you are sitting around collecting a government check while simultaneously complaining about how unfair life is.

The fact of the matter is that tax cuts for job creators and reduced governmental regulation and oversight of business are the only things that a government can do to create jobs and get our economy jumpstarted. We've been talking about this for years now, but for some strange reason some of you people still haven't figured out that slamming job creators with taxes and regulation is not good for you or your family.

What has Mitt Romney been talking about? Exactly what I am describing. Tax cuts for job creators, unchain Wall Street, unchain business, and get our economy going. And what has president darkie been talking about? Borrowing more money from China and then flushing it down the drain on government programs because the teleprompter reader thinks everyone should be dependent on the government teat. The truth is that the black guy has no solutions.

Now the reason that I am interjecting Romney/Obama into this thread is simple. If you want to see prosperity in this country as a whole, then the task of fixing the country's economy begins with small businesses right here in small towns like Rogersville. We need to be supporting our local businesses instead of hammering them with taxes and regulation. When someone has an idea for business or investment, we need to be an advocate for them. That attitude starts right here with us, and right here with the small businesses that we deal with in our town.

And yet, instead of having a positive attitude about America, instead of having a positive attitude about the job creators who are trying to turn our economy around, all you people do is sit around and complain about some other guy not paying his "fair share". Well, lemme ask you this: How many jobs have you created?

How can it be impossible to get info? The agenda comes out on the county clerk's website two weeks before the meeting. It is actually posted on that website before the commissioners get their copies. If all the commissioners are corrupt then why should we expect new ones would be any different? Heck, so few of us show up to the polls or even show up to a meeting...do you really think a whole new group will change anything? Hell no...

That is so 1980s. Thanks for the look back!

And since the 1980s, there have been many legislative changes that have created shortcuts to wealth that do not involve hiring a single person. The phrase "Job Creator" is obsolete.

Anyone who believes that either government stimulus or tax cuts create jobs today has been sniffing the glue. Tax cuts and stimulus are two opposite sides of the same devalued coin.

The only thing that either stimulus or tax cuts do is increase the size of the wager being placed in the elite's Wall Street casino. Most banker bonuses that are excessive beyond the state of the economy to ever rationally provide them through the normal course of business are strictly the result of gambling with other people's money inside these very casinos. The fancy word for it is Proprietary Trading.

Tax cuts to hire people to grow wealth? That is SOOOO 1980's, man...

Yes deregulation created the way of life that poor people live today.
Obesity, air conditioning cellphones, hundreds of TV channels, DVDs,and personal computers. Wealth really does trickle down ,we live in the only country in history that the poor's biggest health problem is to much food. Hell if trickle down economics worked any better the poor would wipe themselves out with diabetes and related health problems. The best measure of a person's economic wealth is a set of scales.
