TRW screwing its workers.

I have been out of contact with TRW folks for many years so I am honestly wondering if the regular workers and management there are Overhomes like it used to be?

The Overhomes are the people from across the mountain in the extended Clinch Valley area. There was a time that Overhomes were the only people who could get a good job in Rogersville. TRW was infested with them once upon a time. Just wondering if that is still the case.

I agree with your point Mr. Edwards. The problem isn't small business
which are going out of business left and right. It's major corporations who make millions and billions of dollars, even in a bad recession, and want to lay off people for pure greed. Noone says that they shoudn't make money, they should but if you lay off people across they country or pay miniscule wages, who can afford to buy their products? Inflation is going up not down and as long as we set ideally by not doing or saying anything they will keep geting away with it. That is why they orginzed in the first place. To keep large companys from doing what they are doing now.

Corporate greed is THE most important thing in America. It will never end. Corporations have no concern for the rest of us. Maximizing profits is the be all and end all no matter who it hurts or whether or not it will distroy the nation. And according to the right wing nuts on the supreme court, corporations have the same rights as an individual person.

TRW Portland MI.

Starting wage $10.00 an hour. Top pay reached $13.01. Takes two full working years to obtain.

Temp starting pay $9.00 an hour. Can't get hired in if you smoke or chew. You are giving a tabbaco test.

TRW screwing its workers priceless.

Taking pay cuts is one thing but this is just screwing its workers over. Old wage used to be $20.00 an hour then they laid half the plant off and tried calling them back for $10.00. Yes yes were in hard times and paycuts are needed but let me tell you this... The portland plant best recorded gross its ever made was 78M back in 1994. Back then they could afford to pay employes fair wages, good benefits, bonous etc... In 2009 the plant made 80M. 2010 the plant is expected to produce in the 90M range, but as of now the sales are up %14 so its looking higher. In 2011 the plant is expected to be a 100M+ facility. How could they affored to pay employes good wages benefits, and in general take care of the workers on 78M a year but now that were blowing those numbers out of the ball park there saying they dont have any money...? hmm...maybe because John Plant CEO of TRW made 21Mil in 2010? I dont know..

First off the old wage was never $20 an hour, unless you worked in skilled trades. Yes the plant has recovered from the bankruptsies of Chrysler and GM and business is improving with implementation of electric steering and yes TRW is leading the competition in this area. Tennessee is a right to work state so TRW can do as they wish, but instead they have just given everyone a raise. Employee's that previously made the $13 an hour that you mentioned are now making over $14 an hour. Not a bad pay rate if you want to stay in this area. Jobs are hard to come by and after a recession $14 an hour is a lot better than unemployment. I'm thankful to have a job. So humble yourself, stop complaining, get a job and make something of yourself.

China, India, Mexico, etc., that you mention, are just doing for themselves what the USA did back when. They are people also who are trying to do for themselves and their own just like we did. The world does not belong to just us. The problem with the "us" side of the equation is that part of corporate greed that pays out gozillians of dollars in executive compensations and begrudges its workers a living wage. That is what will destroy us. Too many bean counters are trying to out count each other.

I hear nobody likes him. In the day, TRW was the place to work. Great benefits, great retirement plan - don't know about now. All I know is, there aren't many places that someone can retire with over a half million dollars paid out to them - what I heard anyway.
I do my job u do yours

That's why it's called a JOB! You're NOT supposed to like it!
