Theres a big old 2 story house on the left as you are going up Carters Valley Rd. that my grandmother told me when she was a young girl, still living with her parents that they would have to ride a horse and buggy after dark coming home from church..On several occassions when returning from church just as soon as the horse started getting close to this big old tree he would start raring up on his hind legs and up in the tree standing on a big branch was an indian and of course the tree has been cut down but i believe the story!

I live on Caters Valley Rd. I have heard stories of Ghosts around this area and it sends chills up my spine to think about it. I love to hear ghost stories though. Anyone else got any stories?

Given the very rich history here in this area, I hoped many more people would be speaking about their experiences here.

What is the name of the building by the library? I don't know what is in it I don't think it is vacant. Everytime I walk past this house I get goosebumps. Does anyone know if its haunted?

I think some of the shops on main street are haunted too.

Back in the 70's the Kenner house was empty and deserted. We used to play inside it sometimes after school.

Are we all talking about the house Mrs. Kenner and her son Kenny lived in? As a kid I remember in the 70's I use to help take care of her yard, rake her leaves ect. Isn't this the same house Mr. Boyd bought. It had a pool in the back yard and she use to rent a appartment as part of the house also.

The house being discussed is the Clay-Kenner House, on the hill next to the library.

I remember another story that I was told as a youngster and I saw with my own eyes it was true, there was a house on north depot street and I'm not sure if it was Ms.Fanny Lou Payne that lived there or if her house was the one next to the bypass before it came thru, anyway there was a man killed in this house,I believe they said his throat had been cut, well believe it or not every time it rained there was a big old bloodstain that just appeared on the livingroom floor!!I saw it and I was small and it really frightened me!!

My family lived in longs bend when there wasn't much to it. My grandparents helped to form longs bend church. My husband and I lived over there for a year when we first got married. The house we lived in was owned by my grandparents. Most of my family is buried in the cemetary over there. I even have a plot over there waiting for me when i die. The house that we lived in was haunted. It made itself visually known to my husband. I think that it might have been my grandfather. Where are the other ones that you were talking about?

Not a Ghost story, but in '76, I went over to Pressmen's Home to visit a buddy of mine. He wasn't there, I decided to keep on going over Stone Mtn-the long way home, over the mtn, thru Choptack, & over Town Knob. Well, as I came thru that pretty field that is on the left past P/H, at the far end, there was this huge thing that came out of the woods, across the field & the road, & scrambled up the bank into the woods on the other side. Its arms were below its knees, it was getting dusky dark, but I'd estimate it to be 7-8' tall anyway. Needless to say, I didn't tarry getting home, I think the car was floored when I went by where it had gone into the woods.. It looked like the thing in the famous Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film of '67, only less robust, & its arms seemed like the had 2 sets of elbows. It was CREEPY, & I hope I never see anything like that again...Its stayed w/me nearly 32 years now...

That blue house [was a rusty red] on Robin Rd. where Paul Manis lived is haunted, me and my husband remodeled it and sometimes i would be there by myself, i never saw or heard anything but it was very creepy! If you type in Pressmans Home, it has details of it being haunted.
