Been preaching that sermon since, oh lets see, somewhere around 20 years ago. The problem being the ones that can make the decision don't give a damn, it's just an animal. They keep touting that "we have the humane society why do we need an animal cop?" Did you know that in some of the more civilized cities it is a criminal offense to not groom your dog? Leaving them matted will get you jail time.

So, i call the sherrif's office about a cow lying in the field dying. The officer goes to the father of the cow owners' house and asks him about the situation instead of coming to the scene of the animal cruelty because the cow belongs to.....wait for it....Stacy Vaughn. Surprise nothing was done. The cow is at this moment laying in the field on Thurman Lane in Rogersville dying and buzzards circling just waiting. They did check on the cow and just left it there to die. The district attorney will be called Monday but this cow will lay there and die. I hope the cow owner has a slow painful death also. What comes around goes around!! But then, he is who he is, and he does what he wants and pays no retribution for any of it. Not here on earth but in hell, he will. And all of this is documented, so no it's not defamatiion or slander. I am the one who filed the report. I am not hard to find. You go by my home every day.

while i don't believe in mistreating animals i believe we should save the funds a animal "cop" would cost and put everything we have into stopping Children abuse" some people have a messed up sense of priorities.

If you put a stop to their animal abuse then maybe they will not make it to a child. If you report animal abuse get the name of who took the call also the name of the officer that checked on the animal,if nothing is done turn it over to the state attonery general after all there are heavy fines and or prison time for this cowardly B.S..

Hawkins County Commissioners meeting Monday March 26, 7 PM old raley Vaughn (bus depot) building. Show up and make your point. That is if they will allow voices from the floor. Most times they don't allow for comments or concerns from citizens. But hey stranger things have happened.

I walked and checked on the cow at 1:00 am. Still alive and suffering. I called the police again because i was told they were going to put the cow out of it's misery and bury it. Obviously that didn't happen. But it is the vaughns and another retired cop who are the responsible parties. Law enforcement around here is a joke just because of a few officers who take care of each other. Not all are like that. But there are a few.

If you seriously want something looked into or investigated, call PETA. They will go to great lengths to get to the bottom of any neglect or cruelty being done on animals. They are a bit over the top, but they DO and they WILL help with animal abuse. They won't rest til an animal is rescued, or alleged abuse is investigated.

P.S. PETA will respond almost immediately, and they will contact law enforcement and other officials for you...and hell help anyone who won't take PETA seriously. They get the job DONE!

umm...you might want get your facts in order before you complain. The cow in vaughns field was a neighbors cow that got out and was in his field. Unfortunatly the cow tried to calve and couldn't. The vaughns along with rc anderson fed and watered the cow until the next day when the owner was notified. The owner of the cow shot the cow and buried it

I'm a cattle farmer in rogersville and this is very common for brood cows to be down for a few days after calving, esspecially if there was a problem. I've had this happen several times and have often used a tractor to assist the cow in getting up. This was no form of abuse and the mother cow would more than likely been ok in a few days.

I have my facts straight. U do not. The officer Boggs spoke to Vaughn's dad and told me what i put on here previously. Peta has been notified. Along with pictures. And it's not Vaughn land either. So don't act like u know anything cause u know nothing. I live right across and NEVER saw anyone watering it or doing anything. The truth is the truth and we'll see what happens. I am NOT letting this go. Pictures of the present cows have been sent to Peta also. They look malnourished. He wants the money but not the responsibility. I AM NOT LETTING THIS GO! BANK ON THAT!!!

Good for you! If more people were concerned maybe some of these horrible things wouldn't happen. It's way past time for people to start speaking up, child abuse, animal cruelty, drug dealing if good people don't start speaking up all is going to be lost.

This cow was obviously the case of irresponsible breeding. When a large frame bull is bred to a small frame cow the cow will have difficulty birthing the calf. Most of the cattle farmers around here put their cows and bulls in a field together and let them bred whenever. The result is finding down cows who cannot birth the calf without assistance (pulling). This practice of "Good ole boy" farming is irresponsible breeding. It just burns my biscuits that folks think you can put a bunch of cows in a field and then go out once a year and "harvest" their calf crop. Cows and the land they graze on need attention. The cows need vaccinations, worming, hoof trimming and a little looking in on now and then. The land needs liming to control weeds, fertilizing to make the grass grow and maybe sometimes a little rest from grazing.
